Go with 35's but do it right. Overbuilt and over prepared will never hurt you on overland trips. When you are out there you don't won't a failure.

Don't foget about recovery gear. Go synthetic over steel winch cables.
last year in moab with the LR3 i blew a CV joint. lets just say replacement LR3 CVs are not that common. it was a mess. so yes, dropping the coin on a quality suspension and drive shaft is probably the thing to do. thanks for the advice!

i am planning on ordering my first jeep in the coming weeks (2012 JKU Rubicon). can't wait! currently, we have two rovers, an '03 Disco and '05 LR3. both are lifted with 32" tires and some other fun bits, and they are both used 1-2 times a month to go wheeling.

now with the jeep, i am wanting to get a few ducks in a row before i get it. here are the questions i have thus far. any help would be much appreciated!

1. i'll likely put on a 2.5" teraflex lift right away. is it worth it to get the new teraflex springs and shocks or are the rubicon's decent enough that i should just get a budget boost?

2. i can't decide on 33" or 35" tires. i don't plan on regearing anytime soon and don't want to mess with drive shafts for a while. is the extra HP and 4.10 gears in the 2012 Rubicon enough to somewhat offset the negatives of the 35" tires? i really don't want to get 33s and regret not getting 35s. the jeep will be a daily driver and a go to off roader for moderate trails.

thanks in advance!!!

I changed my front driveshaft. I bought a Coast shaft that cleared the exhaust crossover pipe by about a quarter of an inch when my Jeep was at full droop on the shop lift. I could have lived with that clearance for on road use, but I was concerned that when flexing the vehicle while offroading that I might still hit the exhaust. Just to be safe, I relocated the stock exhaust crossover pipe with the aFe y-pipe. Relocating the exhaust might not have been necessary, but it is done now and I won't have to worry about clearance issues if I change my suspension to a long arm kit in the future.
