I think they will look great. I run 33s on a 3.5 lift and am very happy.

I have 33's and am installing RK 1.5" coils on my 2 door which will give me about 2.5" I was told by RK. You will get some folks who think it is too small, you will get those that don't. Do a Google search and try to look at some examples.

1.5" to 2.5" of lift is perfect for 33's..With that said I run a Teraflex leveling lift with 33's 2" front and 1" rear for an average of 1.5" of lift.

33s look small to me on a lifted JK, I had 33s for over a year and then got 35s, much happier with the 35s.

The Op has a 2 door which looks perfect with 33's imo, 35's create too many probs for a daily driver mostly due to gearing and extra wear and tear and can be tough on fuel economy especially with the cost of fuel today.

I would only go to 35's or larger if my Jeep was a dedicated off road vehicle and not my dd.

Perhaps happier is not the correct word, I like the look better with the 35s than the 33s, to me it looks better.

I think 33's look good with 2.5 on Unlimited's. 35's do too. 33's are probably a better choice for a DD rig that only sees mild off road trips but that doesn't mean they couldn't handle the tough stuff either.

It is not just the price of buying the tires, operating cost also go up with size.

If you really want to get knowledge of the impacts of running bigger tires then check out this thread.

So you want bigger tires

In general, the bigger you go the more upgrades you'll need to support the weight, etc.

Many trade offs and things to consider.

Those #'s refer to width not necessarily height.
With the same aspect ratio (ie: 75) the wider tire will be taller.
Wider is not always better.
For driving in snow I prefer to not go wider just a little taller.
I'm planning on going to 255/80/17 from the factory 255/75/17's this fall.

33's is what I am expecting to run. I now have RK Expedition 1.5 which gave me about 2" in the front and little over 1" in the back. Should be perfect for that height. Plus you don't have to worry about doing anything to the tire carrier much (at least in the beginning).

33's with no lift but I don't go off road with this Jeep.

33's with 2 1/2" lift and I do go off road with this one. Kinda easy to tell which ones do go off road and which ones don't.

And did you have to change anything when you put the 33s, I've read a lot of things on people changing there gears or whatever. I just don't want to spend any more money than what I'm already spending on my tires and alignment

I bought my Jeep new with it having the 3.73 gearing option because I knew I would be going to 33's at some point, but if you have 3.21 gears you should still be ok with 33's but that's about it you really don't want to go to 35's or larger with 3.21 gears.

Perfect, I'm going to have to check what gears I have. Anything else you would recommend? I've heard many things about death wobbles when you lift your jeep, anything I can do to prevent this ?

33's will fit on the stock carrier, you will need to get new bump stops or extend the ones you have on your carrier if your wheel back spacing has changed.

Most people go from 6.25" (stock wheels) to a 4.5" back spacing with new wheels so an after market wheel will not touch the stock bump stops unless the stops are altered or changed.

Just a FYI.. I'm in the same boat.. Debating.. Between 33 35...

Im going to have an AEV 2.5 lift and was told the wheel set up I was looking get was too big.

I was going with 20x 12 wheels with 325/55 tires (which is a 35)

I may have to go thinner rim and tire with a 2.5 lift

I think 33's are just right with a 2" lift. Here is mine, the tires are actually 285 65 R18 which measure 32.8 inches.
