35 inch tire and tail gate tire carrier

I've been thinking about those 35s and wondering if anyone has a 35" hanging on the stock tire carrier. I've seen brake light tower extenders for it, but wonder if the tail gate carrier will handle the weight of a 35" tire?

I carry a 33" tire on my stock carrier, WITH PROPER BUMPSTOPS and being under 80lbs, my hinge welds are OK, but

Quote:
A 35" tire/wheel will most likely be over 80lbs and a stock spare tire EXTENDER will have to be used--This puts too much strain on the tailgate hinge welds

NOT A GOOD IDEA, should get a swing out carrier--many choices

Good luck

It won't last- 33 is too big 35 WILL break it off, with BAD times resulting- pity the person behind you! Mark W.

35" tire is just to big for the stock carrier.

^ The grate on the inside hasn't collapsed? And the mount hasn't given out? You must be that lucky guy, then, because you're definitely the exception to the rule. Our 33 on Briana's OEM carrier is stressing it a bit- thankfully, we have mine as a spare Mark W.
