35" spare in back of JKU?

Can a 35" spare fit in the back of a JKU upright? (seats not folded down)
Would be nice if I could find a solution for the spare that didn't involve spending $500 on a new carrier.

Thoughts?

Yes it can. I've had 5 tires back there. I chose the TF tire carrier and it has worked out great so far.

It takes up all the space, but it will also fit laying down with the rear seat still up. I toss mine back there when I go offroading.

It'll fit standing no problem. I only carry a spare when I'm wheeling, or more than an hour away from my house. It's nice to see through the rear view mirror and not have anything to drag on steep climbs. I use two ratchet straps crossed through the wheel and it holds very snug. With a 37" tire there is still room for my Co2 tank, Bikini top, Tool bag, and other miscellaneous items.

Thanks guys, after lift, wheels and tires, that extra $500 is tough to swallow.

35 will fit on standard carrier if you are getting new wheels properly backspaced. If you are worried about the additional weight, then don't run it unless you go wheeling or on long trips. New jeeps have roadside assistance anyway. Then save up for what you want....

Save up for awhile or wait until you are ready for something different. I am doing the same here with some mods.
