Hey all few questions before I upgrade my tires.
I have found a deal to good to pass up on a st of courser mxt mastercraft 315/70/17 tires. I'm currently running 255/75/17. I have had my fenders cut so they are flat. I'm worried about any rubbing that may occur.
Also will I need any flashcal chips to reprogram my speedo?
I'm completely stock at the moment so I just want to know what everyone would do to prepare my jeep to run tires 315/70/17
You'll need a programmer to adjust for tire size and wheel spacers to keep from rubbing the frame, sway bar and control arms up front and end links in back. At least 1 1/2" wheel spacers, I went with 1.75". Very important to buy a quality spacer and install it correctly.
Don't be surprised if you get some rubbing still.
EDIT: if it's a HR bumper you're OK, but a non-HR air dam will have to be trimmed.
Ok your the first person who has told me all of these things.
I do have wheel spacers that fit. I have a programmer to adjust for tire size.
I'm still running stock bumper
Why do you say I need sway bar, control arms and end links?
Get the Jeep up on an RTI Ramp and cut wherever it rubs. I would not wheel an unlifted Jeep on that setup but on street should be OK. You should at minimum gusset your Cs as well.
I'm driving with 35's and 3.21. The jeep drive fine, a little sluggish when it comes to up hills and incline on hwy, beside that feels fine. I regearing next week to 4.56. with the money i'm spending I hope I see a huge improvement.
Be sure the wheel spacers that you use are hub and wheel centric. This takes the pressure and all the weight off of the lug studs. I have 1.5 Spidertrax so that I can run my 35s on the stock wheels. I do however have a lift so that part of the equation is the only thing from my set up that would benefit you.
x1 on the re-gearing...it is a must with the bigger tires.
