4.10 Gears on Dana 30 Front Axle

Has anyone installed a 4.10 gear on a Dana 30 front end? If so, what has been your results? Spoke with a Jeep Off Road Shop and they tell me they install 4.10 and 4.88 all the time on Dana 30 front ends. Want to make sure they are not blowing smoke up my butt! Thanks.

4.10s were a stock option on 2007. so i see no reason why you would not be able to have then installed.

why are you thinking of 4.10s?

nope. 4.10's are perfectly possible with a D30. 4.88, even 5.13 can be installed into this axle.

Had 33x12.5 tires insatlled and 6th gear shot to hell. Looking to get some power back in 6th. Told that 4.10 would do that but get a different story from every one I talk to. Some say yes some say no. Very confused!

Yes you can install lower gears in the front dana 30 axle, and of course you need to have the rear match. What gears are you running now?

D30 w/4.10's - want to upgrade to ARB lockers from Aussie

Running D30 4.10's in the front axle, and ford 8.8 31 spline in the rear on my 98 Wrangler TJ. Currently has no lockers in the rear, and Aussie lockers on the front. When rock crawling, the rear provides no help. I figured I should upgrade to ARB lockers on both front and rear, with the following packages:

ARB Air Locker Locking Differential
for 31 Spline Ford 8.8 Rear Axle
Quadratec Part No: 16100.2045
Manufacturer Part No: RD81
ARB RD81 - ARB Air Locker Locking Differential for 31 Spline Ford 8.8 Rear Axle - Quadratec

ARB Air Locker Locking Differential
for 30 Spline Dana 30 with 3.73 and Numerically Higher Gear Ratio
Quadratec Part No: 16100.2004
Manufacturer Part No: RD104
ARB RD104 - ARB Air Locker Locking Differential for 30 Spline Dana 30 with 3.73 and Numerically Higher Gear Ratio - Quadratec

ARB High Output OnBoard Air Compressor
Quadratec Part No: 16104.90XX
ARB CKMA12 - ARB High Output OnBoard Air Compressor - Quadratec

Have I got this right?

Thanks in advance.
