Talking 4 door vs. 2 door-- HELP!

I'm going to buy a jeep soon, and I plan on modding it and having a lift kit and AT LEAST 35's on it. I will be driving on the interstate pretty often maybe once a month at least, and I wont need passenger space except for my dog I just want some input on what others think about the choice between a 2dr and 4dr.

You are asking a question only you can answer. I personally went two door due to the lower purchase price and the four door didn't feel like a Jeep Wrangler to me (to long).

However, four doors do look good lifted with 35's.

I really like the way they both look, I love wranglers. I do, however particularly dislike the way a 2dr looks with a hard top. I don't care about anything but the way it will drive on the highway, in safeness and such.

Get whichever one makes you happy.

Honestly, no one can answer this question for you.

Well, a four door will be more stable in various conditions than a two door given its longer wheel base.

Then go with the 4 door Unlimited, because the 2 door drives completely different, and is less surefooted and moves around a lot more on the road then the 4 door.

I was going through the same thoughts and decided that the extra room would pay off in the long run. Here's what I ordered, cant wait until it gets here.

It looks ok with 35's. It looks best with 37's plus. The 2 dr however looks GREAT with 35's and insane with 37's.

OP - go 2door

I don't know which to choose because I will be driving on the interstate often and I don't want to waste money by running the tread on the tires down.

If I were a single feller and without a kid, I'd go 2 door. However Im not either therefore I have a bad ass family cruiser! Your Choice. Cant lose either way. If you dont need the 4 door take the money saved and apply towards lift and wheels/tires!

I have a 2 dr and I like the look over a 4 dr. 4 drs need at least 35's to look decent IMO. A 2 dr looks ok with 33's. Mine is a DD. You might wander a little more on the HWY due to the short wheelbase but you'll be backing up less to make turns off road. My kids are out of the house so my back seat is out and I have an ACE cargo basket in the back. Less initial cost with a 2 dr means more money for mods! And I have an auto which I think is tops both on and off-road.

. I like the way both look, and really don't need much space, I won't be paying for it... I will just be paying for mods. But I'll be traveling from MS and AL often so I'm really stuck

It wasn't a serious question...more of a running joke around here.

As you could guess...certain questions are asked quite a bit.

Should I get a 2 door or a 4 door? Should I get a soft top or a hard top? Should I get a stick or a manual? What model should I get? What tires should I get? What color should I get?

In the end, it is up to the individual buyer....and it all depends on where you live, how you will use the vehicle, how deep your pockets are, and how much are you willing to sacrafice or tolerate.

The answer is different for owner.

You say you want a lift and 35" Mickey Thompson's....are you doing a lot of off-roading or is this just for looks?

My 2 cents. I love the 2 door. I love the look. I love the way it drives in town. I don't need the room for passengers often.

But, any length of highway driving (over 2-3 hours) and you will want the 4 door. the 2 door just is not as good over the road driving. Me and my 2 grown kids drove from KC to Orlando and we needed a cargo hitch hauler just to hold clothes and stuff. I will not do that again without a small trailer or gobi rack!

Of course, the 4 door is the most practical and rides a bit better. I came from a sports car and prefer small vehicles, so I opted for the 2 door. If ever I remove the hardtop, it's easier to store, 2 fewer doors to remove, 2 fewer doors to leak, takes up less garage space, easier to maneuver, smaller turning radius. Can I use more space? Once in a blue moon, but I manage. To me it's more fun to drive a 2 door everyday than a larger vehicle. Especially around the city. My 4WD van was practical, but I never drove it unless I needed to haul stuff. Oh, I thought all Jeeps should be manuals til I drove one and then ordered an auto and glad I did.

I'm playing back with him and I would be doing a lot of off roading for sure. I would be in mud more often. I live in south Alabama and family lives in Mississippi so there's that

If it's just you and a dog, get the JK. If you think you might start a funeral home business the JKU would be the better choice since you will already have one hearse
