Nope, go for it. If you're really worried about it vary your speed and acceleration style. I only do that during the first 500 anyway.

Just no full throttle accelerations and vary the speeds during your roadtrip and your good. The trip back you should be good to go and drive normally assuming you will hit that 1000 mile mark by then.

Yeah probably just gonna vary the RPMs as much as possible. About the full throttle though, the manual says full throttle makes for a good break in!?
First time Ive ever read that in a manual....

I apologize for always making emotional statements on here... But in a world where kids are being killed in school, people are dieing in collapsed buildings, our streets are being bombed, etc etc etc... worrying if your fancy new wrangler is too new to take on a wild trip to Vegas is a GREAT problem to have.

So pack your stuff in the jeep and go tear it up all you want and enjoy every moment of it.

I picked up mine while I was moving across country. Stopped at my parents house in Oklahoma and found mine. I then continued onto Virginia pulling a Uhaul trailer with my Harley on it. I don't think you are going to hurt it. If you do, you have your warranty.

I don't even know why this is a question. It is Vegas. Any excuse is a good excuse and breaking in the new Jeep is a GREAT excuse

I picked mine up with 18 miles on it Denver...drove it that night to Moab...well over 300 miles. Just vary your rpm's...with a few brief full throttles thrown in.

You're supposed to be nice to them at first? I had 250 miles on mine and was doing the both lockers, sway bar, 4 low, give it hell, here in Colorado. Now I'm at 550ish and will be going to Moab next weekend.

Had 400 miles on it before driving it from central PA to Miami and back for spring break. No problems whatsoever so go for it.

Others might have the same question... But too worried to post. I don't worry about this, though other things I worry about may make others ask the same thing "there's a thread for this?"

Wonder, I say, no problem! Vary RPM's

With 650 on the od I'd set the cruise and enjoy the drive. I'd keep it under 60. If you have cruise you could vary the speed by hitting the increase/decrease button on the steering wheel every so often.

Like others have said check fluids/tire pressure before you leave and before you return.

I'm not a fan of WOT.

Enjoy the trip (!)

Back in March and April, I had just got my first oil change (3000 miles) before heading out to Laughlin NV, then to Sequoia NP. While I was there, I saw a new Rubicon sitting in the lodge parking lot. The guy drove it from Orange County and had hit 400 miles when they got to the lodge. It's a 5 hour drive. I have read the power trains are pre-broken in? So you can drive the crap out of it right off the dealer lot. But I still babied mine for the first 5000 miles.

I think you will be good to go, you aren't going off road. Just take it easy, I don't get above 70 when I drive the 4 hours from here to Vegas.

No off the line full throttles, above 45 give it a few decent acceleration bursts. Don't baby it or it will expect that for life!

Put the first 500 on in 1 week on my 2013 last August per break in guidelines. Then packed up with one of my daughters and did an impromptu 9 day camping road trip for 3400 miles though Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and Montana.

The only thing that I needed was new tires. Stock tire was flat the first day off pavement from a sharp rock on a Hells Canyon forest road. Put my BFGs and new wheels on passing through Salt Lake City on the way to Moab. There was only 1 other stock tire in the state of Utah, it was 2 days away. So got what I really wanted earlier than planned. Lucked out since it was Labor Day and the sales promotions were in full force.

First time Ive ever read that in a manual....
"ENGINE BREAK-IN RECOMMENDATIONS
A long break-in period is not required for the engine and
drivetrain (transmission and axle) in your vehicle.
Drive moderately during the first 500 miles (800 km).
After the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds up to 50 or
55 mph (80 or 90 km/h) are desirable.
While cruising, brief full-throttle acceleration within the
limits of local traffic laws contributes to a good break-in.
Wide-open throttle acceleration in low gear can be detrimental
and should be avoided. Trailer tow is not recommended
during break in period." ~ 2013 OM page 98.

I think I did the mother of all break in trips.

From the dealer in Clinton,AR...
Hagertown, MD
Clinton, AR
Dallas, TX
Clinton, AR
Gainesville, FL
Clinton, AR.

I put a bit more than 6000 miles on it in a month. And, yeah, I varied my speed quite a bit during all the legs, not just the first one.
