Came home to fine the JW Speaker 8700 Evolution Js on my door step. Carried box into the garage and noticed things were rattling around inside. They were double boxed with styrofoam. However when I opened up the JW Speaker packaging the lights were not secured in their cardboard. No plastic bags around them. It looks as if they had been out of the package or demos.
Notice the chips or defects in the face?
For those of you that received the lamps. Were they in plastic bags or just stuck into the cardboard cutout?
I will have to contact the retrofit source tomorrow and request a new pair.
Bummer I really wanted to see these light up today

Mine were received the same way. Double boxed but the lights were bouncing around their box. Very poor shipping/packaging. Didn't see any damage but will make a comment to the purchases in case they decide to stop working in the future.
I have the IPF H4 housings. The first time I ordered them, the glass on one of the housings was shattered. They were just packaged really bad from the manufacturer. I had to return then and order another pair.
It's really odd for JW Speaker though. When I received my Evo2 headlights the headlight was secured inside the JW Speaker box with a plastic wrap over the lens holding it in place inside a cardboard frame that sat centered inside the JW Speaker box which was then packaged inside a bigger cardboard box with packing peanuts. No rattling could have been possible.
I got mine from Quadratech. they were not wrapped, just sitting in the pockets
with the flap over them.
The box came with brown reinforced packaging tape over edges, and shipping label on the box.
I am assuming Quadratec applied the tape .
Problem with the packaging is that flap is not padded on the top down. This allows the lights to pop the flap up inside the box during shipment and bang around inside. A simple piece of tape or foam to fill gap inside the box would have been plenty.
Contacted Retrofit Source this morning. Evidently this is not the first they have heard of this. They are working on a resolution with JW Speaker. The thought is they were rushed to market and packaged insecurely.
So hopefully they will get this sorted out in a few days.
I received mine yesterday, mine too had scratches on the lens. I ordered them form Retrofit Source, their packaging seemed sufficient. But, the lights where bouncing around hitting each other inside the JW Speaker box. I emailed JW Speaker haven't heard back yet...
Mine were packaged the same and rolling around in the box and had a couple of minor dings. Not enough to worry about. What worries me on the one that I received was what appears to be a big scratch on the lower projector. I bet that would really mess with the light being projected. May need to send these back.
Got a replacement set on the way already. Rick at quadratec was already on it before I sent him a message. Great customer service. I'm sure Jw speaker would do the same.
I spoke with JW Speaker and The Retrofit Source about mine. They will be sending me a new set to replace mine, I am just waiting for the final details.
This was a major purchase for me, I was on the fence going back and forth so much about these. Spend a lot of extra money for the JW Speakers or save nearly 1/2 and get Truck-Lites with almost the same performance...
I had plan on getting the J Series fogs too, but now I am not sure. Total shock that they were shipped out in sub pair shipping boxes, nearly every review or responses I found about JW Speaker was all top notch. It was all those positive reviews that help me decide to buy their lights...
I think this is just a fluke in the packaging. A simple fix of a bit more cardboard or foam. They were probably drop shipped from JW Speaker.
Retrofit was very receptive of my concerns and so far they are meeting my customer service expectations.
I actually ordered the J series fogs on Monday. Hopefully they arrive safe and sound.
Wow. That's terrible. My Evo 2's, purchased last November from Q-tec, came individually boxed, protected in cardboard cushions, and packed in a larger box full of peanuts. No way they could get damaged in shipping.
