A few questions

Hi all from Little Rock, Arkansas! I am looking to buy a 4 door wrangler, anywhere from 2007-2010. I have no idea the differences between the unlimited and the rubicon or anything in between. I hope to be buying saturday, and this will be my daily driver and hardly taken off road. Thanks for the help in advance!

Also to add, the one i'm looking at is white, so if anyone has a white 4 door with black wheels combo and has pictures that would be awesome of you as well!

The Rubicon is one of 3 trim packages one can buy and is also the top of line most off road ready out of the lot, you then have the Sahara below that (basically the sport with some added bells and whistles/creature comforts) and then the Sport as the most bare bones model, with options you can add.

The unlimited comes in all 3 trims and is the 4 door model...as opposed to the standard 2 door model.

If you're buying on Saturday you may want to do more homework first if you don't even know the basic differences between each model!

Not trying to be a wise a**, but it's always good to do your research so you'll know what model is best for you and your needs.

Well the Unlimited is just the 4 door model. You can get the Rubicon in the Unlimited (short JKU) or the 2 door (or short JK). There are several models starting with the Sport and Sport S. 2007-2009 the Sport was called a X.

For a very basic explanation;

The Sport is more of the base model but you can get many options with it and is still a very capable Jeep. The Saraha is more a luxury upgrade and the Mountain is more of a rugged looking upgrade. The Islander was targeted to the beach crowd. The Rubi is the top of the line with the better axles, gearing, lockers to get you on the advanced trails with little modification

Why would you pick a specific date to purchase a used vehicle? Just keep looking and buy when you find something good. You don't want to be pressured into buying something and regret it later, especially for that kind of money.

as said above, do more research, pay attention to gearing and axles. in the rubicon you get dana 44 back and front, gearing will determine how much you can tow and how it handles on hwy.

i won't be buying if it isnt a good deal. i have been researching on used prices, and i sold used cars before, so i know the game. i am def. going to drive it and overnight it if i feel that it is right for me. i have always been a diesel guy, and purchased a 300c srt8 for a toy, and am looking for a 4wd to have my fun with instead of speed. always heard good things about the jeep, and hope to get a deal on one.

on the other note, what other research do you suggest i do? thanks for the responses!

research all options, models and mostly how you will use it. if mostly hwy miles don't get less than 3.73 gears. if around town 3.21 may be all right, but many with 3.21 complain about lack of power and driving in traffic.

you are going to have to answer that question yourself. what do you plan on using your new JK/JKU for? like the guys said, sport (base/islander/mountain) are pretty much base JK's with some mods to appeal to the eye... the sahara is more refined, bigger wheels, nicer trim on most i looked at, more creature comfort.... the rubi, well that's the one, if money's no option and you aren't looking to upgrade much to get in the dirt, that's not a bad one to start with.

so... what are you using your new JK for? daily driver, some fun on the weekend// at the beach // to go camping off fireroads // or some serious wheeling?
