Just installed my SpiderwebShade (trail mesh). Love it! Will be great for our wheeling trip this weekend to Bridgeport!

Safari Straps for the back are in the mail... PSC hood louvers for both jeeps soon to be ordered. Also potentially a custom tie rod being built. Mine is currently the "self fabricated high clearance" tie rod :P

Spiderwebshade trail mesh worked like a dream today... One of the best upgrades by far. Happy to report that my Recon 10,500 winch w/ synthetic line is a workhorse. Pulled my husband off a boulder, and various other stuck vehicles in the mud... Worked great. Especially for costing less than $500!

We were at Bridgeport/ NW OHV Park this weekend. Great place. Not really big but plenty of fun to be had.

Wish there were trails like that around here. Very nice upgrades, and I like the green accents on the black.

Thanks!

To be fair, we had to drive about 3.5 hours to get to these trails. wish they were closer!

SAFARI STRAPS!

So, I guess they are a little different for different years... bought these on ebay from a guy with a 2010... some things in the instructions were different/didn't make sense/different parts supplied but I made it work. YES!

We just kind of threw them together... here are some pictures I took along the way:

At first we just used the holes already in the roll bar, but then realized we couldn't use the door surrounds, so we drilled another hole about an inch and a half back.

We just took some square hollow aluminum, cut it to size, and bolted it in really. The wires run through the mount and out through a hole drilled directly above the actual CB. Keeps things nice and tidy...

and CHEAP! I think we spend $20 and had the material to make two mounts. Took about 45 minutes.

Commuted today with the top off. Was happy to see that the Safari Straps are rock solid, didn't flap around at all! Very awesome!

Also installed the Safari Strap fire extinguisher mount to the rear of the passenger seat. Nice system, and I like that its out of the way and still in arms reach. Will post pic later!

First, let us catch up to today!

Bone stock, day one (October, 2012). Mine is on the left... husband's on the right.

And it begins! (This is how our driveway looks on most weekends) 2.5" Rough Country on 33's... a humble beginning.

Testing it out, successfully!

Next came a CB (self fabricated mount), rocksliders, and decals

At this point, my husband has his 4" lift on 35's. I am jealous.

Other various parts have gone on, such as Steering stabilizer, Swaybar quick discos, etc. etc. Now comes the bumper and winch...

Next, the chopped fender flares!

And it didn't take long... already in my 4" (Zone) lift and 35's!

(note the still connected swaybar... spur of the moment hill climbing in the neighborhood!)

Now that I am off to a somewhat respectable start, I will try to document my build as I go. My husband is holding off on upgrading his 2012 until he returns from Afghanistan next year. At that point in time, we will be looking into axle swaps and 37's. Would love to hear some opinions, suggestions, questions, what have you. I absolutely love owning a jeep, and we have a blast working on them!

Noticed you have the Uniden 980 CB. I have been looking at that unit for purchase.....would you recommend that unit or go with another brand?
