A larger tires to stock steel wheels 2012

How big, what size tire can you go to add a more aggressive size, tread to a stock steel wheel on a 2012 sport 2 door ? I'm going back and fourth, should I buy a sport with the steelies and just add larger tires or do I go for the Sport S model with the alloy wheels and bigger tires ???

Go with sport steelies and buy rubicon wheels and tires of craigslist for under 500

You can do this ^ or you can put bigger tires on the existing steel wheels if you prefer them. With the steel wheels, you have options.....

Personally I like the steel wheels and ended up putting 32's on them (31.7 actually)

Thanks for the options , I appreciate it ! I still have plenty of time, I'm not buying till late next year. Having so many options on what to go with and what to chuck aside is awesome !

If your asking how large a person can go on a stock setup or stock rims
Completely stock I've seen 33's on stock JK's
As for largest tire on stock rims I've ran 35x12.5x17 on stock rubi rims and used wheel spacers but that was on a lifted JK

Think about buying wheels also, IMO looks much better then stock wheels. for 5 tires, wheels, and sensor $2100.. i have 285/65/18 with no spacers, lift or rubbing...

Man, if only there was a thread linked in the JK FAQ thread at the top of the page that specifically answered how big of a tire you can put on stock wheels . . . oh, wait . . .

Largest tire on stock JK? Here's your answer!

Was my post not helpful?

He gets a thorough post addressing his question with months worth comments and additions, rather than just a response to what he's asked here and now. And as a bonus, it leads him to the FAQ and other stickies, which are likely full of information he'd find helpful.

I fail to see the problem. Sometimes the best thing for somebody isn't to just to provide the same old answer.

If your response was to be a smart ass then that's fine. It didn't bother me. But if you intention was to be a jerk then why waste your time and just ignore my post ? We all can't Jeep authorities like some jack asses in the Jeep group, not sure where they get off on belittling people but hey, have at it. I've always wanted a jeep, it never fit my family life but now it does. I can't buy one till late 2013, I'm just trying to get as much info as I can. I read thru as many posts as I can for info. Thing is, there a lot if people that think they know it all and sometimes you get several different opomions so that's shy I ask. If anyone doesn't like me asking questions then don't f n answer it, plain and simple.

Right. But again, I wasn't a jerk. I provided a useful link that provides you with answers not only to the specific questions you asked, but also many others.

Knowing that the other thread exists and that it would almost surely be helpful to you, I'm not sure what I was supposed to do other than link you to it. I suppose I could have used flower emoticons ( ) or just linked it silently without saying a word, but jeebus man I'm just not going to think about it that hard.

Yeah sometimes just a "hey buddy here's some more info for ya too" would be fine with a link

I do believe it was all in the execution. The info was helpful but the delivery could have been taken as sarcastic. Maybe just, "You'll find the answer to all of your questions here..." would have gone over better, and taken less time to type. I can relate, I get called the A word at least once a week (that I know of). But it's all good. Great forum, great helpful info. :-)
