Because you have to turn in your leased vehicle after 3 years. Oh wait, that's Silvrevo, not you.

Seriously, extended warranties are rarely worth it. Think about how much it is going to cost you. You need to consider exactly what it does and does not cover, and whether there are any hidden costs involved such as deductibles. They sell extended warranties to make money, not to make you happy.

EXTENDED WARRANTIES HOW TO BUY AN AUTO EXTENDED WARRANTY, AVOID SCAMS

Most people don't mess with it, the amount of money that is spent over the period of the warranty verses how often something breaks and how much it cost doesn't weigh out.

Others though, who have the money to spend and absolutely do no maintenance nor plan to do so go with extended warranties.

I'm not saying it's good or bad, for some vehicles and people, it works out, say, for older people who aren't capable of doing the repairs themselves and have the money to do such.

Most people save money by not buying an extended warranty and if a problem arises, they correct it themselves or know of a local shop that will repair said item and it still didn't cost as much as the life of the warranty.

Keep in mind, just because you get it, it's not a safety net if anything goes wrong. there are limits. read it carefully if considering.

Most problems with any vehicle happen early on and are covered under the original warranty or happens several years later when there is no warranty, parts wear out over time, rarely do they do so within any warranty.

Before you purchase the warranty think about this. Are you willing to wait 100,000 miles before making any modifications to your Jeep. You may think right now that you will run it stock for an eternity, but there is just something about Wranglers that make you want to alter them in one way or another. Would you like to add a lift? Be careful, it might void that warranty. I purchased an extended warranty and I can't wait for it to expire so that I can really start making changes.

Good or bad idea....I bought one, not for the mechanical stuff, but for the electronics on the JK.

My Jeep is a week away from being a year old and I've got 26k on the odo. So I'll be burning through the factory warranty in just over a year.
I figure to have around 100k in 3.5yrs, then my warranty will be up. Some of the time I think that it was a good idea, sometimes bad. Time will tell.

If you're not going to put many miles on, probably not a good idea. My .02

Remember that insurance is just a matter of statistics and they stack the cards in their favor especially on a factory warranty since they have no competition.

I also bought the warranty and I dont think it was a bad decision. Like someone else said, the electronics are expensive to fix.

The drawback as someone else mentioned is modding it. Now I just run things by the service tech before I do them. You would be surprised, most stuff is acceptable, they just wont cover the new parts, and they even sell jeeps with some of the stuff done.

To put it in a nutshell, you're gambling that something breaks (and will be covered), the dealer is gambling that something won't break. As with all games of chance, the odds are stacked heavily in favor of the house. Every once in a while someone wins, most people lose. Place your bets.

I bought the lifetime "maximum care" extended warranty. For me, it was worth it for peace of mind as I suspect I won't mod the jeep (at least not enough to void warranty) and liked the roadside assistance/towing that came with it (for for the first seven years anyway). I also liked that it is more or less bumper to bumper and, should I keep the jeep 10 years and the computer module goes bad, then all I am out is the $100 deductible. To me, it was worth the $2100. For others, it may not be. I too usually stay away from extended warranties, but I kinda liked the features of this one. Will pick up my jeep in two days, so will be a long time before I know if it was a smart move!
