? about ipod connection.

I have tried to search for this but no luck. I have a 2012 JKU with the 430nav. I have plugged my ipod into both USB ports but cannot get it to read. Do I have to connect it to the 3.5 jack? If so, where can I find that connector?
Thanks!

make sure your iPod has the latest software and check the compatibility chart for the model you have on the ucconect link above.

My ipod nano worked perfectly for a week on my 430 Nav. It fired up no problem the first try.
However, this morning the songs displayed in Pause status. I touched the Pause to change it to Play but the songs won't start. It shows Play but the songs won't start counting down.

The ipod Nano reads "Jeep" "ok to disconnect"

I haven't read a similar situation. Interestingly, my wife's iphone 3 works fine.

Can you look at the usb connector in the glove box, does it light up after the key is turned on, (may take 15 -20 seconds)
When you plug the docking cable into the iPod does it make a sound and the shows accessory connected? (or the Jeep logo)

You may need to reset the nano. These steps were taken from this link:
http://ipod.about.com/od/troubleshootingyouripod/ht/reset_ipod_nano.htm

  1. NOTE: First make sure that your iPod's hold button isn't on. This is the little switch at the top left corner of the iPod nano that you can move to "lock" the iPod's buttons. If it's turned on, you’ll see a little orange area at the top of the iPod nano and a lock icon on its screen. This could be causing your nano not to respond to clicks.
If you see either of these, move the switch back and see if this fixes the problem. If it doesn't, do the following:
  2. Slide the hold switch to the on position and then move it back to off.
  3. Hold down the Menu button on the clickwheel and the center button at the same time. Press them for 6-10 seconds. This should reset the iPod nano. You'll know the nano is restarting when the screen darkens and then the Apple logo appears.
I would try this first and then if you still have the same problem, try re syncing with ITunes. Let us know if this helps

YOU my friend...are a GENIUS!!
The "switch hold button on and then switch it off" did not work.
The "hold down the Munu button and Menu button at same time for 6 seconds" worked like a charm!!!

Will that work for a touch also? I went to the dealership and they said I will need a new flash for the 430 but they have no idea when they will actually get the update/

What is the issue that you're having with the touch? If when you plug the docking cable in, you see "reading" on the radio and then after up to a few minutes you see "error occurred" then yes the update will work.
As for the dealer telling you that you need to update the radio, well then he's not very up to date. What is the build date of your vehicle? It can be found on the white sticker on the drivers door (MHD).

Hmm, I was just reading above in this thread and noticed that I replied to your USB question, Did you look to see if the USB connector has a white led lit up between it and the mounting bracket?
If it is an you are actually wanting to reset the touch, the directions for it are slightly different. You would press & hold the pwr button on top & the wake button on the lower face of the touch till the apple appears and then release the buttons. This will cause the touch to reset.

It will not recognize the touch at all in any plug. Dealer says I need an update for my 430 but they have no idea when it will be available.

Some of these ipods send the data to uconnect faster than others, sometimes it depends on how many gig of information that is being transferred.

can you look at the USB connector in the console, is it lit up when the key is on? If so have you tried a different iPod touch or IPhone? If so do they work?
You may want to try to rest it by pressing the power button on top while holding the wake (round indented) button on the face till the Apple appears, then release and let it reboot.
If this doesn't work then I would try re syncing it to ITunes.
I have tested the 2012 with the 430N (& the non "N" radio also) with no issues. I'm not sure about the dealer knowing what he's talking about an update ( I know this would be highly unlikely because they are so UP to date on everything). However if you press the "menu" button on the right side of the radio - select system set up - system information - and give me the information on that screen, I will see if there is an update coming. sound good?
