About ready to buy! Need some opinions

Hey -

Been lurking for awhile now, this looks like a great place to hang out!

Been looking locally for an Unlimited X and found one that I am waiting on the first offer from the dealer.

Unlimited X, 4 door, 6-speed manual, soft top, Trak-loc limited slip rear, side steps, sirus radio, 7 speaker upgrade - MSRP $28,935

If I build it online, with the EPP And the Great Lakes discount, it gets it down to $25,438.

What can I expect for pricing from here? I am also buying a new minivan (09 Town and Country) at the same time. Plan on using a trade and cash for her's, and the 3 year 0% for mine.

I don't know how much the dealers are coming down off the EPP and rebates.

Anyone have any recent experiences?

Thanks...and looking forward to hanging out!

I got my 4DR JK Rubi --- maxxed out with $37 on the sticker for $29k
I think I got a great deal on it, and I am not complaining on the price.

(Even though I still think that $30k for a Jeep is kinda on the high side, but it is fun!)

I will complain all day about the dealer however...... very impersonal & unprofessional
but apparently no one cares about customer service.

I know that Mark has been preaching that EPP will certainly end this month. (He can speak more to this) ------ As Mark stated before, I am not sure how much they can truly come down anymore.......but I am sure he will be chiming in shortly!

Thanks for the replies so far. I still haven't heard from my sales guy - you would think they would be a little more eager to sell a couple of new vehicles.

I just picked up a Unlimited Sahara, the price before EPP was $34k, I got it for 29k with free towing package (installing it myself) and 6 free oil changes.

The dealer wasn't going any lower on the price, but I managed to get it low enough that it was in an affordable monthly payment range after my down payment.

Just went shopping for an Unlimited X two weeks ago. Great dealer experience. Sticker for the 2009 X 4wd (duh!) with the 23S package & dual top was $29,230. The dealer offered us $23,230. Based on what I can see that sounds like a pretty solid deal.

Unless you're at a huge dealership, there's not much on a Wrangler beyond EP and the regional cash. The T&C should (especially if it's loaded) have a fair bit of wiggle room- the more you add, the more they can wiggle Since you're swinging twice, they should work with you.
That's about right on the price. I'd highly reccommend (as I do to everyone)- get slush mats!
Also, the off-road mirror kit, if you plan to rock the JK without doors- Mark W.

Hey -

I think this is where I stand right now.

Town and Country - 25th Annv. Edition with sunroof
$35,075 MSRP
<3658> EPP
<1500> Chrysler Customer Loyalty since I am going to buy the Jeep first
<1500> Chrysler Great lakes rebate
<1342> Chrysler DVD package rebate
---------
$27, 075

This doesn't count the trade in, or the taxes, title, etc.

Jeep:
$28,320 MSRP (soft top, towing package, delivery fee, side steps)
<2412> EPP
<1000> Great lakes rebate
---------
$24,908

This doesn't count the the taxes, title, etc.

We would also need to negotiate a fair discount for buying two cars.

What can I expect for the title and other fees?

Thanks,

Nick

Most, if not all, Chrysler places have to charge a $125 admin fee. They may be able to knock that off for you- Mark W.

I had 2 dealers in 2 different states quote me prices within $400 of each other.
When I asked how many vehicles they had been selling he said they were selling about 300 cars a month and last month it was 49 cars. So I gave him my price that was $5000 less than what he wanted. I said I will just keep driving the vehicle that I have if they didn't want to sell. They took about 5 minutes and came back with we have a deal. That was for my new Sahara. I love buying new vehicles. Just remember to tell them what you are going to pay. Never ask how much they want. I really don't care what they want.

If you were able to get $5,000 off, he was trying to rip you off. Any authorized Jeep dealer simply can't do that unless they were holding back on rebates, which anybody can check on Jeep.com
It's jerks like that that give the rest of us a bad name- Mark W.

Well, picking up new ride tomorrow afternoon!!!

Detonator Yellow Unlimited X 4x4, 23S package, 3.73 rear axle, 7 speaker sound, Sirius Radio, Side Steps, and Towing package.

Van -
MSRP - Employee pricing, - 25th package DVD discount, - Trade In, - double rebate--> It all ended up about 20K plus tax and title.

Jeep
MSRP - Employee pricing, - Rebate, plus free side steps and towing package -about 25K plus tax and title and 0% for 3 years.

I am so glad I am past the wheeling and dealing stage and ready to be on the road. I will post up some pix as soon as I can

Thanks again for everyone's input.

Congrads on your Jeep.
This must be the season for new Jeeps to be on the road.
Over the weekend, we got a 09 Sahara with all the bells and whistles including Sirus radio and indash navigation system that was stickered at 32 and after all the rebates, trade in, etc we were out the door for little over 25K.
So far the only thing I will change is removal of the rear tire cover with advertisement for the dealer. The plate holders were the first to go after I got home.
Im not getting paid for advertising the dealer so why keep it?
Since we got ours, Iv seen at least 6 other new ones on the road.

Well, now that Chrysler has filed for bankruptcy, it should be interesting to see where the company goes. I wonder if they will release April sales numbers? When I bought my Wrangler last week, the dealer was busy... and it was a small dealer. The finance guy had about 7 deal folders on his desk and most of them were for Wranglers... I am still waiting for them to get my plates transfered... it normally only takes a day or two, but it's been well over a week and I am still waiting for them to give me the registration. So it definately appears that April was a decent month for Jeep...

When we were getting ours, I asked what the outlook for the Jeep brand was and was told that it would be able to ride all this junk going fairly well and survive better than the other Chrysler brands.
This may be dealer propaganda but take it for what its worth.

Hi, Been lurking for a couple days and I am considering and in the initial phases of reaserching the Unlimited Sahara 4WD with Freedom top and automatic trans. MSRP is $31,440 as configured Emp price is $28,153 and the cash back brings it down to $27,153. Then add tax and tags on top of that?

The prices above don't get down to exact #s and details as to Sticker/options and if the cash back is included in the final percent of MSRP.

Looks like 79.5 pct, 78.3 and 86.3 percent of the MSRP.

Should I be able to get the Sahara as built for $24,995 figuring $31,440 * 79.5 pct. would that include the customer cash allowance?

My price on the Unlimited X, 4WD (Duh!), 23S, Dual Top, 6 speed manual trannie, was $23,230 after all the EPP, rebate, etc. But.... your mileage may vary. Our sales guy told us that he did not have nearly the room to deal on a Rubicon, so it's a matter of what deals Chrysler is offering (EPP was supposed to end 5/30) and how eager the dealer is to move the particular vehicle you are looking at. I don't think you can make any generalizations based on percentage of sticker. My experience is that if you check Edmunds.com for the exact configuration you want and look at their price that others are paying - below that is probably a good deal - above that not a good deal.

^ Good advice on all of this.....YMMV......I think I got a good deal on my loaded maxxed out Rubicon, but could I have done better? Perhaps so.....but with my substantial trade in, I only owe about 8k on it now, so I think I was less "motivated" to stick it to the dealer, so that was probably my fault. Plan on paying it off within 24 months.

HOWEVER,
(and yes remember that price INCLUDED the cost of extended warranty that extends the coverage on the vehicle to 100K miles)

If I had to do it again and pay ~$30k straight up for a JK Rubicon, I am not sure that it would be worth it to me......I know that sounds unfair, perhaps disloyal....but I just don't know how else to word it to make sense.......If I didn't have my trade-in, I just don't know if I could justify the expense.

But luckily, I didn't have to make that decision.
