About to order a Jeep . . .

Just pending loan approval now

JKU Sport
Auto
24S options
Dual top option
Dozer color

$28,751 + TTL
(8.5% off MSRP, 4.5% below invoice)

This is through military sales, I'm returning to the States by the end of July
First time Jeep owner, excited!! My 2 year old son loves looking at the pics online. Wife was hesitant, she thinks I'm gonna sell it in 5 years because it's too "impractical" and "uses too much gas"

Excellent. When can we expect photos, exactly?

Your wife will come around...one good trail ride or spin around town sans roof and doors, and bam! You'll be up @ the dealership, checking out one for her.

Congrats, good luck and thank you for your service. In a sense, it is impractical, but I still love my Jeep. We have a van for practicality, and my 3 yr old loves the Jeep about as much as I do!

Awesome!

Uses too much gas -> True.
Impractical -> Nope. I look at it this way. It's the most practical vehicle out there. It's fun. Drives good on road. Drives great off road. It's an all season vehicle; good in snow; is a convertible and doors off for warm weather. Unlimited holds a lot of stuff so it's a good family hauler. Try to find a better hobby/make it your own vehicle. Looks awesome. Relatively affordable. Easy to work on. Lasts a long time, if taken care of. Get to be part of the Jeepers club. Not a Van!

Can you name one other vehicle that fits that description?

congrats and welcome to wf! I am sure your wife will love the jeep, even if not for herself, but at least when she sees the smile it brings to your sons face, mom won't be able to resist it!

post pics up when you get back and THANK YOU for your service.

Awesome and congrats.

I think the Jeeps are very practical. Especially the 4 doors because of the seating and extra storage. Yea gas mileage sucks but I think the Jeep is a perfect vehicle, especially if you live somewhere with 4 seasons, crappy roads, and trails near you. I had an 02 Corvette in North Carolina but when I moved to CO I decided I needed a 4 season vehicle. The Vette was great in NC with the perfect roads and the lack of snow but here in CO the roads get beat up by the weather and the weather is unpredictable.

Wait till you see all the BMWs, Corvettes, etc.. stuck on I-70 on Floyd Hill, near Georgetown, etc.. due to an expected snow storm

I get a kick out of it

Loan looks good, just put the order in today

2012 JKU Sport Dozer
Auto
24S package
Dual top package
3.73 gears (least minute add on for $47, thanks to this thread!)

$28,798 + TTL (9% below MSRP)

Now it's a waiting game, I won't see the Jeep until end of July. To make matters worse, I am leaving next week for 6 weeks where there is no email connectivity. My wife will have to sign the order acceptance (power of attorney) and will make the call on any changes the factory may give us

Nice pickup man! I really wish I would've got 3.73's. I didn't research the gears much before buying so I have the slow 3.21's.

Also smart move on the dual top package

Just an update, placed the order on 4/7 through Military exchange here in Okinawa
Emailed VIN 5/8
5/15 in "E" stage (frame)
PSP 5/24 (i think this is the actual build date)

Should be done by June, then it hangs out until I return to the States in July

Already thinking about spider shades, safari straps, some grab handles, and the rugged ridge side armor to double as side steps. Just want to get back to good ol USA!!!

Doesn't say where you will stationed but if you are anywhere West of the Mississippi that is the vehicle to have. Out here in the SOCAL desert, you can't go anywhere without seeing at least 5 Jeeps. We have really enjoyed ours over the last 2 yrs and have gone to some amazing places because of having a Jeep and we have lots more to go.

As for the side armor (rock rails), save up some and consider rockhard. Buy it once! Safari straps are good stuff, made right here in SOCAL, Santa Clarita to be exact. Great people and offer a military discount too.

From a fellow vet, thank you for your service and dedication to your country.
