Adjusting the heim joint worked. The rattle is gone now. Closing the tailgate now has a more solid feel to it. For anyone installing the bumper for the first time, I'd say you want the carrier to hit the cradle when the tailgate is about 2" open. This way the carrier is pressed hard into the nylon cradle. The problem I had was that the carrier was just lightly touching the cradle. Adjusting the heim joint is a pain! But, I love this bumper! Thanks again Jason for getting me a great deal on it!

So fun to look back on this thread, 1 year ago. I got the Pro bumpers and couldn't happier with them. So sleek.

I finally got around to my 3rd brake light solution. I had 2 requirements:
1. l did not want to drill any holes in the ACE tire carrier.
2. I wanted the ability to remove the light without disconnecting any wires.

My solution uses the stock wiring harness with This Light and a quarter inch thick 6" x 4.5" stainless plate.

I used a CAD program to print a paper diagram showing me where to center punch to drill each hole. The holes in the plate for mounting the light are tapped. I used a band saw to cut a tunnel for the wiring harness to fit under the wheel. And I polished the plate with some 800 grit sandpaper.

Note: The plate just slides over the lug studs. The entire bracket can just be pulled off when the wheel is removed.

Here is a sneak peak at our hi lift mount for the ACE Engineering Pro Series Rear Bumper w/ Carrier. The prototype has been approved and we have begun the building process. You should see these on our website soon. We will also post some pictures powdercoted and remounted

Here are some pictures of the jerry can mount. This prototype was approved for production and they are heading to powdercote this week. We have found that these are universal for the rotopx also. However you will see the rotopax mount prototype in about a week. It will use the rotopax designed mounts through the center of the rotopax.

Will these mount up to the previous generation bumper/carriers?

Yes these units will be able to be used with the 2nd generation carriers that have only 1 heim joint. You will need to drill a few holes first then it will simply bolt up. From this point forward all carriers leaving the shop will have the holes pre drilled.

I have the older non-pro series bumper, is that what you are referring to when you say 2nd generation?

No we are referring to the carrier as second generation. We switched the carrier design while still manufacturing the original rear bumper. So if your carrier has the single heim joint and gear cut into the corner by the spindle it will work.

I'd like to see ACE make a license plate relocation bracket for the spare tire

I'm wondering if they'll come up with a full width pro series front bumper that matches the rear....not a fan of the stubby bumpers....and feel that front and rears should be purchased as a matched set....cause I love the rear one with tire carrier...

*shrug*

What coils? We are running the ACE on our RK 3.5" coils and I didn't see any noticeable sag... and we are running 40's!

I have the large stock coils. I noticed no sag but I didn't measure either. Also have the original mid width front bumper no noticeable sag there either

My 1/4" drop is not really noticeable but I did measure because I was curious how much sag I would get. I have a relatively light 35 MTR on the back with the TF HD hinge and carrier which is also light.

I'm not complaining, I swear my Jeep drives better with some weight on the rear instead of all of the weight on the front with my front bumper and winch. With my 2.5 RK coils, I'm level front to back, so I'm happy.

Thanks for the replies guys! I have the RK 2.5" coils and TF adjustable tire carrier, as well. I really love the looks of this bumper, so I just need to convince myself that it's better than the lighter alternatives.

I think the Ace bumper with the TF hinge and carrier looks terrific and it has great departure angle. The weight was a little bit of a concern for me as well, but it's a well-built bumper and I'm very satisfied with it.

If you want proof of the strength and construction, I'll take a picture of my front bumper, in the morning, after hitting a stone mailbox at more than 30 mph

LOL, seriously? that doesn't sound fun at all! Fair enough, though... let's see it!

I don't doubt the strength and quality, trust me. I already have the ACE rock sliders and they're fantastic!

I've got some thinking to do...
