ACE Rear Bumper + Tire Carrier- 3rd Brake Light Options

I'm about to buy the ACE Pro Series JK Rear Bumper and Tire Carrier from someone but I do not want to lose my third brake light. Has anyone tried using the Teraflex third brake light kit or the LoD bolt-on 3rd brake light bracket with this bumper? I really don't want to resort to the little lights in the lug holes on my spare to stay legal- I just don't like the "clown-nose" look.

I'm in the same boat! Mine's supposed to ship in a few weeks. The LED lugs on the spare tire is an option, but not my first choice if someone else can confirm a good product/fit.

I recently installed the ACE Pro series rear bumper and tire carrier. I was using a Body Armor taller third brake light, with my Rancho rear bumper/tire carrier. The ACE unit actually sits a bit lower, which made is actually possible to see out my rear window, except the brake light now blocked my view. After a little searching, I found these on Amazon.
Amazon.com: LUG-NUT-LITE Kit - 3rd Brake Light for Rear Mount Tire - for JEEP or any Model: Automotive
And they work great. Shine really bright and now I can actually see out the back. Simple install too.

You'll have to mount it to the front of the plate ACE uses to tie the tire carrier into the tailgate. It works, but i just didn't like it.

I simply cut the light portion off the factory mount. after installing my spare I ziptied the brake light inside the spare tire/wheel and plugged it back in. Now when i brake the inside of the wheel lights up. simple and free

The D rings are just plain ones, that I painted black, with some high heat ceramic paint, I had laying around. It's not holding up very good though. I will probably redo them with PlastiDip once it warms up. The isolators are from Daystar. The receiver part is from Factor 55.

This OR-Fab Third Brake Light Kit will move the factory brake light location up so it can be seen over the spare. This kit is nice because it includes the harness as well as all the hardware and everything you need to do this.

I personally run a round LED in the center of the spare where the center cap would go. I extended the factory wires and added a quick disconnect.

Let me know what questions you have or if you would like me to send you a price!

The more I look at the lug lights the more I like it. I like it more than the one center light option which goes where your centercap is. This might be the best choice- and it is clean looking. Thanks for the info. Do you think these lug lights would be a PITA when I do the 5 tire rotation? Is there an easy, quick disconnect?

Yes there are quick disconnects. Each side has it's own. They are similar to a trailer wire connection. A little tight at first but sure to get a bit easier, with use.

Found this pic of them online.

The one I got from Amazon, had a lot longer wire, with loom and only a 2 wire connection, but same quick disconnect.

I have the Delta Lug Nut lites as well and really like them. Its not too common of an option around where I live so it gives me a little somthing that everyone else doesnt have. Search eBay as well and see if you can get them cheaper, or at least chepaer shipping.

This connector was inside the swing gate. http://www.wranglerforum.com/attachm...7&d=1371346777 back of the light outer edge is flat, also has two screw mounts. http://www.wranglerforum.com/attachm...5&d=1371346777 cut a rectangle to catch the flat edge. you can see the two screw heads inside the cab. silicon seal. http://www.wranglerforum.com/attachm...6&d=1371346777 http://www.wranglerforum.com/attachm...9&d=1373920441

I ordered these today to use as lug lights. 2 Pcs 3W LED Eagle Eye Red Light Daytime Running DRL Tail Backup Light Car | eBay

I plan to splice them into the factory 3rd brake light harness wire that I'll clip off. It'll take a little while to get here from China, but for a couple bucks compared to 30-40, it's worth a shot.

I doubt you'll dislike them. I have them & do a 5 tire rotation & they are simple. I put a little dielectric grease on the connections every now & then to keep the water out & keep them from corroding.

Oh, if you do go with them you should splice them into the brake light wiring on the outside of the jeep, not on the inside like the directions say. This way you can save the little rubber grommet that covers the hole in the tailgate that the wires run through & remain waterproof.

Great advice- I will definitely do it this way.
Thank you everyone for your help!
