Ace Rock Rails

My new ace rock rails came today. Of course as soon as they arrived they needed to be installed. took me a good amount of time to get the frame bolts and washers off. had to of course rely on the good ol forum to get a trick to get the dang things off.

ok so they are off. and i get my trusty sidekick ( my incredible wife) to hold them up as i hand thread them back on. got the first two (of 3) bolts on and good, last one of course, couldn't get it to tighten. a quick trip to my local lowes ( where i happen to work) and i picked up a 3/8 impact driver for the drill. zip zip zip, got the other side on in 10 minutes and got the stuck one up as well. torqued them all to 80lb and away we go.

no pictures yet, i am exhausted and i think my arm is going to fall off from all the wrenching

If anyone else stumbles across this thread (and doesn't have a cool wife like you to help), I just used the packing material squares to support the rail in the places I wasn't working on. A rubber mallet and a big flathead screwdriver make this an easy install in less than an hour.

Hope you like them, I have nothing but good things to say about the Ace rails so far.

I happened to have some milk crates on hand to help hold mine up during installation. Of course my wife helped out as well. This was about a year and a half ago and they've held up very well. Ace rock rails are awesome.

I love my ACE rails, my only regret is NOT getting them line-x'd or something before putting them on. 2 years later and they're rusting badly. I might take them off this fall, grind off all the finish and see about redoing it. Debating the effort of doing all that vs. buying a new set and selling the old ones to someone else!

Rusted huh... hmm where are you living? Is rust prevalent there?

These were my FIRST mod to the Jeep back in 13. They are still on and doing well. A little worse for wear but they do their job and have protected the rockers as well as my doors from idiots who open doors toward the Jeep:) They get all kinds of crap slung up on them so they get a few nicks to the finish. A little bedliner helps or a little rust reformer underneath if I missed it. I am in salt and brine heaven in Wisconsin and I am impressed how my set has held up. They have been thru 3 winters and still are in real good shape.

I live in an area that doesn't have a lot of salt on the rods or extreme weather. Literally 2 weeks on my vehicle and they are rusting on the weld points (which are terrible by the way, just could really tell until they were outlined by rust)... Check it out...

That's not normal. You should ask for a refund or replacement.

I've had mine for 2 busy wheeling seasons and the only rust I get is where they get gouged on rocks. I spray them with bedliner in the fall to keep rust at bay.

Never had rust at the welds.

I received a new set of slides from Ace. They look much better. So I found a good product but receive a batch that had an issue. I reported it to those that matter, you guys and the retailer. Ace came in, noticed a real issue in my rails via the pics provided. They looked into it and implemented a new reliability review process before their products leave going forward. Good business change that should make a difference for the customer. So from a 2 week time from reporting my issue I get a new set of rails that look great and hopefully as maintain as well as others report. Ace notices an internally issue and implements a new process that will ultimately better their services. Great turn around and shows their commitment to their product. At least to me. Others may have their own issue that may turn out different for their own reason but I feel no worries buying from them again after this process. Here are some pics (notice the signature on the box now)...
