Kind of harsh, no? Perhaps in your MBA classes you learned something about economies of scale? In other words, a reseller very often orders larger quantities, which results in lower shipping costs per unit, which they may or may not pass on to the customer. Not to mention the discounted corporate shipping rates larger retailers get from UPS/FedEx.

May or may not be the case with his local stores and the ACE rails - but you have absolutely no idea.

My front bolts came off no problem, but both rear bolts were a P.I.T.A.

I did not get instructions of any kind either. But at least I got the bottle opener, woot!!

You are correct, I do not know the particulars, but how many shops do you suppose order enough ace rails to keep them in stock to get that kind of discount?

Seriously, what an a$$!

I generally prefer to pick up large, heavy items from a store to avoid shipping costs. If I'm getting something large like a TV or fridge, I'd much rather pick it up.

Apparently nobody REALLY carries Ace Rails in their store, everyone drop ships.

I was asking because all I had left on the Christmas budget (because of getting other Jeep things) is $250. If I could've found them for around $300, would've gotten them. I'll still probably get them, but probably going to wait a month or so. Plus will now see what else I can get for $400.

If everyone is saying it's still the best deal for $400, then that's what I'll end up with.

I think you will find that they are the best deal, and that currently they are essentially drop shipped from Michigan. I feel you on making the budget stretch. Every time you see something you want, check out the prices at Ace. I have found them to be very reasonable, and generally a better product.

Very Merry

Agreed..they have shipped everyone of our orders within 24 hours, if not same day..and prices are pretty tight.

Regarding the install, my brother and I were just out tinkering with the bolts, and they do require a little bit to get started when you are removing them, but I was able to run 'em out using a cordless drill with a socket adapter after that and it went really fast.

My plan is to remove the bolts at work over a lunch hour and modify the washers there.
When install time comes it should be a breeze!

I did get my ACE rails and I love them... I have also ordered from Nates 4x4 out in Michigan. I ordered a TJ bumper and the shipping was about $70 buck to south Texas but now the shipping on their orders have been for 99 cents to south Texas. I guess Nate has been negotiating with UPS we need Adam to help do the same so he can help us out the shipping. I was quoted $137 for the shipping of a stubby ACE bunpper. : (

I just switched from a standard socket wrench to a 14" monkey wrench - that provided all the leverage needed to get them started.

Seems like everyone is loving their ACE Rock Sliders. I got a phone call on Friday from Adam telling me that he is ready to let us start selling the NEW front and rear bumpers from them as well! So, if we can help anyone out, let us know and we will make it happen...

Cool Finally!!

I got my rails installed this morning!
Many thanks to my brother Jim and bro in law Andrew for their assistance!
I had prepped the washers ahead of time by grinding the sides down at work, so the bolts were ready to go.
I knew what to expect from reading this thread and watching the install video on Ace's web site. You guys all rock, seriously.
I sprayed some black primer on the backs of the washers and on the sides to help protect them, especially where they were ground prior to dropping them into the boxes, and then sprayed more primer inside the boxes after all of the bolts were tightened down.
Here are some before, during and after photos:

Very pleased that my first larger scale mod went so smoothly.

EDIT
Oh man, I almost forgot the obligatory KEYCHAIN SHOT!
I got a black one! (awesome)

Put mine on today, no instructions but no issues either....a couple of the bolts were on there pretty good but the installation was simple. I also put on my RR trailer hitch, the nuts were tough to get started but not too bad...I like the plug and play harness.

I think these are next on my list, but really can't decide if I should get a set of rubi rails to go with it or just bedline the seam.

How did y'all who bedline do it? Are you worried about trapped moisture and rust?

I was debating it.

Figured I didn't "need" them with the ace rails and could save a few dollars. You don't see many take offs.

Ok fine. In my 5 mins of looking in the F/S section on here and eBay I didn't find any reasonably priced. I might just get a new set.

That's why I was leaning towards the bedliner on the pinch seam. With the ace and rubi rails plus shipping I'm probably looking at $700-$800.

So used to seeing them around here for $75-$100

That's like someone posting their Sahara tires/wheels for $1200

He'll figure it out.

Heck I'll probably give my Sahara wheels away one day.

It seems like since the ace rails can use the rubi rails most folks don't part with them. If I can find a set shipped for $200 I'll grab em. If not bedliner will become my friend.

I just wanted to make sure about how much to torque the bolts. I saw it somewhere on here but couldn't find it. I torqued mine to 80lbs. That's what I thought I saw. Can anyone help?
