Add ons and packages

I'm about to jump in and buy a Jeep Wrangler. I'm not much of a jeep guy... yet anyways. So this is quite new to me. I've never bought a car you can add on some many different features too. I'm wondering if somoene could tell me some good add ons to the car? I'm looking at the Dual Top group, the Trailer Tow group, the power group with power locks, windows, alarm, etc) and the black appearance group. Is there anything else you'd guys suggest?

Thanks for your help, I really do appreciate it!

Convenience is great with the USB and wheel controls power windows Is nice if you want them dual top is nice but you can get a much nicer aftermarket cooler one for cheaper so I hard top if possible black appearance you can buy it all cheaper on quadratec or eBay max tow though is prob most important cause of 3.73 gears which is a plus I missed out on that in the joy of just gettin my first jeep

Avoid the black appearance group. You can add that yourself for a lot cheaper.

You can also add the hitch yourself for a lot cheaper...but make sure you get 3.73's (I'm assuming you are getting a 2 door Sport based on the packages you mentioned).

Maybe the hard-top? (Depends on where you live and park)
Order the connectivity package
Maybe Trac-Lok (depends on where you live and how you will use the Jeep)

Thanks I'll cross the black appearance off my list. What do you mean though when you say you can get dual tops cheaper and better elsewhere? I'll look into the 3.73 for sure now too.

What's Trac-Lok? Sorry I've got to be honest I really know next to nothing about cars/trucks/etc. I'm not looking to go into mountains and all.

You might not be looking to go into the mountains, but I can almost promise you if you stay on here you will end up lifting, wheeling, and modding the crap out of your Jeep. This site is like heroine, it only takes one shot to get hooked. Look at my mod list already and the day I bought it I vowed no lift, no mods, no nothing. I lasted only 2 months...

Trak Lok is cheap, adds resale value to the Jeep, and can be useful in snow, mud, etc.

Adding it afterwards isn't quick, easy, or inexpensive [for most owners].

Would there be a better chance of rust if I get it done at like an auto body shop compared to getting done at the car place? the jeep dealership said they need to add an entire new track on the top of the jeep if I get both hard and soft.

That's crazy and not true. The soft top comes with a framework that supports it, but it bolts directly to the roll bars with minimal fuss and is removed entirely to put on the hard top.

This seems like the one I'd be getting with the 'mods' and what not.

2013 Black Wrangler Sport here with the following options.

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT
Customer Preferred Package 24S $ 2,200
Air Conditioning
P255/75R17 OWL On/Off-Road Tires
17-Inch x 7.5-Inch Aluminum Wheels
Leather-Wrapped Steering Wheel
Chrome / Leather-Wrapped Shift Knob
Power Convenience Group $ 795
Auto Dimming Mirror with Reading Lamp
Power Heated Mirrors
Power Windows with Front One-TouchDown Feature
Power Door Locks
Remote Keyless Entry
Security Alarm
5-Speed Automatic Transmission $ 1,125
Hill Descent Control
Deep Tint Sunscreen Windows $ 300
Tubular Side Steps $ 445
Black 3-Piece Hard Top $ 795
Delete Sunrider Soft Top
Freedom Panel Storage Bag
Rear Window Defroster
Rear Window Wiper / Washer
Tinted Rear Quarter and Liftgate Windows
DESTINATION CHARGE $ 925

The thing they would have to add is a trailer tow group. What else should I ask for, Trac loc and connectivity package? He's got me down for 28.7 at the moment without tax.

I'll be a kill joy and tell you to do what I do for my starting point -I got to the manufacturer web page and pull up the different trim levels using their comparison tool. Then I look at the options and when I find one I don't understand, I cross reference it against the Manufacturer's description of that option - if it still doesn't make sense, it's off to the Google machine.

Then I prioritize my options - must have, nice to have, wouldn't mind and don't want. I cross off all the time levels that do not have the must have or do have the don't wants. Then I look at my nice to have options and start doing a comparison - are they cheaper as a dealer package or aftermarket? Gears, lockers, transfer cases, and the like can often be pricey and involved to do yourself or after purchase. Fenders, tops, trim pieces, etc. are often quite easy to do yourself. Wheels, tires and suspension might be a wash depending on how they are packaged at the dealer versus what you actually want and what it'll cost you for the dealer to install it or for you to do it yourself.

Thanks for your help fellas. I a black wrangler. hard top only, might get a soft when spring rolls around. anti-spin diff rear axle, power and connect groups, sill guards, black fuel door and mud matts from the dealer. With XD800 black matte rims and trail grappler m/t tires. I think I'll get 17 inch tires too. Do you recommand bigger? I heard if you get bigger you'll have to have your speed and stuff reajusted. Then going to get windows tinted afterwards too. It comes with sirus staelittle radio for 195 dollars is that a good idea? I don't plan on buying that after the free trail is over.
