Advice Needed on a 2011 JK Unlimited Purchase

Hello Everyone,

I'm a newbie to the forum and a future Unlimited owner (currently in a Tundra lease that expires in June). I have wanted a Wrangler for nearly my whole life and decided that now is the time! I plan to lift it and put new tires and wheels on immediately (Love the look of a lifted Unlimited w/ big tires). I have been researching the forums, etc. for a couple of weeks for ideas and advice on lift brand, size, tire size, etc. Still undecided... I originally thought 2"-2 1/2" lift with 33" tires, now I'm thinking more about going with 35" tires, guess that means 4" lift? I also have the added complication of wanting to keep my Jeep in the garage, so there is a height limitation... Is there any way to determine final ride height for a given brand and size of lift prior to installing? Any tips or advice I can get are MUCH appreciated!!!!

Thanks,
Scottie

I can say that my Unlimited has a 2.5" lift and I have 33s. There's room for 35s for sure. However, from what I've read here, if you go bigger than 33s, you have to start thinking about re-gearing and all that other fun stuff. I'm sure others will chime in...

Thanks Mariner!!

That is the kind of info that I am looking for, it helps tremendously!! I was beginning to wonder if I would get any replies. Do you have any pics of your jeep?

if you go any larger than 33 you'll need to cut your fenders or get new ones, and sleeve the front axle(some people don't and the front axle tube breaks eventually)....with some aftermarket fenders it is possible to run 37's without any lift. poison spyder, and metalcloak fenders are 2 that I've researched extensively and it is possible to run 37's with both without any lift.

It came like that from the dealer. I think it's a SkyJacker.

Really Nice Jeep there Mariner!! I think the wheels are the DC2's. I've been looking at those as well. I think you've got me convinced to go with the 2.5" lift and 33's like I originally thought! Thanks very much for your help!! If anyone else out there has pictures of their Unlimited with 2.5" on 33's please post.
