Based upon some good lift advice on the forum I contacted AEV. They indicated in an e-mail that they are coming out with the 2.5" suspension lift kit sometime next month. It will be on their web site when it's available.

I am curious to see how it stacks up against TF's 2.5 lift. I have not bought mine yet, maybe worth waiting to see.

Not released and no firm info on that although it has been mentioned that brackets are not necessary at this level (2.5 in F, 2 in rear) lift by AEV Dave.

They have mentioned the brackets might be available as a "hop up" kit for the 2 inch lift kit and would be apparently the same brackets as the 3.5 and 4.5 kit but with holes for the 2.5.

No mention by AEV if R exhaust X over pipe issues for 2012 at full flex, either. It would depend on shock length. Teraflex states their 2.5 inch spring lift, (budget shocks and non progressive springs), requires an exhaust mod on the 2012 because of their shock length and that later kits (when?) would have the shock length adjusted and the exhaust mod would not be required.

That is still a steep increase. So this kit will run about $1000. Need to think about that. A set of 4 Bilstiens runs about $320 the TF lift is $480. $200 +/- more for the AEV. They will need to come with some nice extras.
And ORW routinely offers the TF2.5 kit with Bilsteins for 740 shipped.

Ok, dumb question... Who is ORW? Have to excuse me, only been a Jeeper for two months and two weeks.

I am haveing a hard time waiting for this kit. One thing aev does is they make there lift kits handle usally better than stock on road. Most companys throw cheap shocks on there lift kits and just some spring to get it lifted. They will handle good offroad, but handle like crap on road. One thing i don't like with some brands is there lift kit are not complete. U go home and put it on your jeep and then go drive it just to find out u need another part to make it handle good. With Aev there kits are complete One thing i keep seeing on here are people that buy a 2.5 inch kit and are getting like 4 inches of height instead, that just don't make sense, just not one brand i keep seeing either. If i wanted more i would buy a bigger lift. AEV hands down. U pay for what u get.

Dave mentioned a new rear trac bar but said nothing about the front. I can't believe for 899 your going to get springs, bilsteens, and two new trac bars.

33's all the way for me. I have 3.73's on an '08 and as cool as they look, won't be justifying the cost/inconvenience of 35's on my DD rig. I have a hankering for "the combo"- I like the 15" level 8 trackers myself...

I am curious how the 3.73's on a '12 would turn the big 35's- are you going to do some research?

I think 35s will be ok, but not something you'd want long term. The 4.10 seems just barely ideal.
I'm looking at this kit with 315/70R17 Duratracs. The Duratracs are fairly lightweight at 60 lbs and I'm guessing they're probably around 33.5 under load (34.4 without load). I have a 2012 with 3.73 gears, so I'm thinking that setup would work. What do you guys think?
I have the 35" DuraTracs on 16" wheels on a '12 JKU. The 3.73 gears are very close, but lack passing power on the freeway. You also need to downshift on the freeway on moderate, longer hills.

It's VERY close to being ideal. 4.10 would be the way to go, IMO.

That's what I have and what I've been hoping someone tries sooner than later. The practical side of my head says 33s since its still my DD, but some 35s would be cool.

Was gonna start a thread asking about TF 2.5 budget boost or Aev 2.0 Spacer lift kit.. but after reading this thread I guess i'm going to wait for the Aev 2.5 lift :) Also, what would happen if i brought the Aev 2.5 lift kit, and then replace the shocks with the Bilstein 5160 Remote Reservoir Shocks?

If you were to regear would you do the 4.10s or the 4.56?

That's an extremely good question, and one that I'm still wrestling with. Gonna regear end of May or early June...and still haven't decided.

The more I drive mine, and read comments here and on other forums, the more I'm convinced that 4.10's are perfect for the 3.6 engine and 35's.

On the other hand, $1500 is an awful lot of cash to drop on changing to one lower gear ratio.

Complicating matters is the fact that 4.56's are few and far between...many shops have difficulty getting them, and therefore recommend either 4.10's or 4.88's.

The deciding factor will probably come in April...I usually drive to the East Coast for a week or two then, for a multitude of niece and nephew b-days in several states. I think a trip through the mountains of PA will clear things up nicely. :D

I hope.
