AEV and Quadratec, the good, the bad and the not so ugly...
So I bit the bullet and ordered up the AEV premium tubeless bumper, skid plate and various other add- ons for this project from Quadratec. For the record, everything added to my 2012 JK Unlimited Rubi is from Quadratec ( as well as my previous Jeep), so I have history with them. It took about a week for boxes to arrive, so I took Friday off of work with big plans of a Jeep day. I took the stock parts off (not nearly the knuckle breaker the suspension job was!) and started putting together the new bumper. So the big problem, two of the same side tow hooks. They are side specific and I had two left shoes! Well I was a bit disappointed to say the least, it was about 2pm on a Friday and my job was at a halt. I checked with AEV, they said call Quadratec. Quadratec said they had to call AEV. In the end, AEV, through a request from Quadratec, Fed Exed the part to me so I could do a Saturday build. Very nice and responsive of both companies. One note, the new tow hook was a different design and the holes did not line up, so that required some more drilling. For those of you who don't know this bumper, the tow hook plates are a major attachment point to the frame for the bumper. Then, as I continue to do the install Saturday, I notice the bumper mesh is black. Nothing major, purely cosmetic, but it said it came with silver stainless steel mesh. Also the nuts that hold the mesh on weren't in the box. On a $1200.00 bumper, I kind of expected things to be as advertised. Finally, I get to the winch delete plate ( winch not going on yet). I ordered the one Quadratec tells you to order with the premium tubeless bumper which ends in AA. Problem is, it doesn't fit and now I need the delete plate that ends in AB... Quadratec said they would have to check with AEV to see why these things aren't adding up (AA, AB etc.). I will be back on the phone tomorrow with Quadratec to get this all sorted out. I hope the skid plate will work! My painted AEV hood is doe to ship Monday, hopefully it doesn't show up red (ordered tan)!! I still love both companies, I know they will straighten things out, but what a weekend!
Recently fitted the AEV 2.5in kit for a mate, ordered from Quadratec.
1. The rubbers on the top of the front shocks were way to thick. When trial assembled outside of the vehicle the thread on the top of the shock was still about 1/8 in below the top washer - had to use the rubber off the stock shocks.
2. The rear brake line drop brackets were missing.
3. The front swaybar link relocation brackets didnt fit - kit was ordered for a RHD and one side would not fit with the RHD steering damper bracket. I ended up giving him my old rears that were no longer required.
4. Even though the relocation brackets didnt fit, the bolts to fit them with were missing anyway!
So far three emails have been sent to Quadratec over the last 3 weeks, so far three replies saying we will look into it, and nothing more. Bit slack in my opinion.
Cheers from Downunder, Dave.

I don’t order from Q-tec cause they are typically more expensive than their competitors and their shipping is pricey. Also as some people on this forum know, I am not too fond of AEV’s overpriced stuff.
The bumpers may have changed for the 2012’s as did a lot of aftermarket bumpers for the ‘12’s. I believe they had to change the way they are mounted. Just sounds like a lack of attention to detail on Q-Tec’s behalf since they are the place you ordered from and the shipper. AEV really had nothing to do with the mix ups.
