AEV Argent With Anvil?

Just wondering if anyone has seen or has an anvil colored jeep with AEV argent wheels. Pintlers or savegre (sp?) pictures would be very helpful, but opinions welcomed as well.

Going to be tough to find many pics, as I'm not sure too many 10th Anniversary Rubicons (only Wrangler currently available in Anvil) have been modded too heavily.

That said, I did find a thread that had some pics here:

While I love Pintlers, I do not think the Argent works all that well with Anvil. Since Anvil changes color so easily depending on the light, the Argent can sometimes blend and sometimes clash, which I don't personally like. If I were to have an Anvil Jeep, I'd go with either silver or black wheels.

I was initially attracted to the Pintlers, but I read one too many reports of them cracking where the spoke meets the rim. Sure, lifetime warranty is great, but I don't need the hassle.

Then I saw the Savegres...and they really grabbed me. It's a new take on an old school look...and they are much stronger than the Pintlers. I am about to pull the trigger on a set in argent for my white JKR.

Can't help with Anvil, but here are some of the pics that I have collected:

...and there is also a thread here with pics, including black:

Thats funny cause I feel the exact same way as you on everything you said! I love the pics of the white with the Argent Savegres. As was said by tvrbob the argent is like a subtle black. I Like the fact that the Savegres are not as common and keep the tires tucked under the fenders, as do the pintlers.

I just keep going back and forth on the color, black vs. argent for anvil :banghead:

I say go for Argent. I personally prefer the Pintlers, but the cracking issue has me thinking now.

Black rims are everywhere on everything. I think argent would look good with Anvil. But hey, I am in the Army and color blind, so not much of a fashion expert.

I agree that black rims are starting to feel played out... I like the argents on the anvil, but the 10A red-outlined lettering makes the whole look kind of weird... maybe it's the yellow AEV stickers (although I usually think those are the best part of pintlers!)

The problem I have with the argent on anvil combination is that argent is a warm gray color where anvil is a cool blue/gray. That's why Anvil can look blue in certain lights.

This creates a visual problem for me as they are both neutral (gray), but will "tint" warmer (argent) or cooler (anvil) based on the ambient color. That can cause the color to clash IMHO.

I think this will only occur on a color like Anvil. Mixing two neutral colors of differing temperatures creates a conflict. It's an inherent problem with gray.

On billet, the argent looks really nice, as they are similar temperatures and will tint similarly. The same for silver. I'm sure the metallic nature of those colors helps, but in reality if you look at going from white > silver > billet > black, you can easily see a progression in darkness but no change in temperature. AEV wheels in any color look great on any of those colors because they follow that same progression and temperature.

Anvil doesn't fit in that progression because the blue cast changes its temperature.

That doesn't mean you can't mix the temperatures of the colors. Argent and blue/green looks really good too and blue or green are cooler colors. But since they have more color and aren't trying to be any type of gray, it works.

My vote is for black, as they stay more inline with the stock 10A wheels.

Silver will work well, too.

I would skip argent on anvil.

But that's just me.

Check out the gallery on this forum. Search for photos I've uploaded. I got a few with anvil and painted fenders with argent pintlers

Just picked up my Anvil yesterday and was waiting to see if the Argent wheel would go well with anvil... The, my, consensus is in. I will be ordering argent color wheels. Pictures do not do it justice. Anvil is a dark color, a lot of the online pics are over exposed and make it look blue and clash with Argent. Not the case at all. The wife, who is a decorator and know how to match colors... unlike myself, agrees Argent does indeed match and would be her first choice.

Argent AEV Beadlocks, Powder-coated bead ring and black center cap.
