I just got the AEV front bumper on my 13' rubicon, and need to get the front skid plate. I'm picking it up tomorrow and have a question on the install. The instructions state that there is some cutting required to make the skid plate fit. But AEV states that only holds true for JK's built prior to 2012. Can anyone verify this info. Thanks in advance

I have a '13 JKUR with the bumper and skid and there was no cutting involved.

The AEV skid plate and AEV bumper came from the factory on my 12 COD. I had to take the bumper and skid plate off to install a fairing and winch mount to mount my Warn winch. The whole thing just bolts together and fits perfectly.

AEV front skid plate question

Yep, put the skid on my 13 with no cutting or drilling. It was a pain to get to the nuts under the cross beam, took maybe 10 minutes just for those 2 bolts. Also, if you don't have a need to adjust the steering wheel, then ignore the instructions on that part. They say you have to adjust to get the adjuster bolts to clear, but mine cleared fine, it seems AEV added some cut out to clear that, haven't had any problems so far.

That's good to know. I pick it up tomorrow and hopefully will get it installed Friday(weather permitting).

For the 2 back bolts:

I used 2 extensions and 2 u-joint thingies to come in from the front. I held the nut in the socket with some masking tape. 2 minutes if done that way.

If you are installing this yourself, definitely wear eye protection.

When I installed it, the self threading screws that go into the front AEV bumper shedded a TON of small swarf particles and some got in my eyes and I had to go to the ER (was not fun)

Make sure you work safe as even the smallest jobs can get you in trouble.

I did not have to cut anything to get my skid on my 2012.

FYI long extensions, a u joint and some tape are your friend getting those nuts on the bolts that go thru the crossbar.

Just installed the front skid plate. Wasn't too bad, just needed my neighbor to hold it up while bolting on the the two outer bolts. There was no cutting required, and the rear two bolts were very easy to install. Overall it took me about 45 minutes.

Not sure I understand "from the front"... when I look down I can see an access hole that may well allow a socket with a swivel u-joint to get through on a long extension, but the nut with the integrated washer doesn't fit through this access hole on my Jeep...

IIRC, I went through the holes that capture the tongue of a hi-lift jack. They're pretty big/.
