Some stuff I have heard on another thread / forum about the subject:

That people had problems with it being delivered and paint being scratched bad. All thought qtech did make the porblem right they said they needed to go and get it repainted anyway. I guess they were getting shipped with the mess inserts lose and that was the problem.

Also if you have a metalic flake in your color, it will never match where the hood meets the body unless it is blended ( the amout of flake, not color?? )
I have heard that from a few dealers.

I am guessing that if you have a non metaclic color like CG, Crush it wont matter as much. maybe ?? also depending if it is a new jeep or old which might have some paint fade.

Anyone care to share if they ordered it all ready painted?????????

Perkins? or Faricy Boys?

Perkins did ours.

For those of you that bought it and then went to a shop to get it painted, why not order it already painted? For $370 more, it'll save you time and money. Unless you can find a shop to paint it for under $370 and make sure it'll be an exact match
Because of the hail damage insurance claims on our two Rubis, the dealer's shop was going to have to order the OEM hoods from mopar and paint them anyway. So we just had them order the AEV hoods instead. The insurance paid all but the $160 difference per hood.

I ordered mine from these guys that are in Victoria BC out by the Airport.I paid $959 plus tax. Brad is the person who started the line of AEV products on the Island. But if you go to the AEV site and search in their Canadian dealer locations there are a few in Canada. If you use Brad tell him Chris from the Comox Valley sent you.

In addition I think they look much better than the stock hoods. We've run ours now for about 7 months on and offroad here in Colorado and Moab, etc. Absolutely no problems to date.

I can see heat waves radiating off the center vent while I'm at a stop.

I live in Seattle, with plenty or rain....no issues. I had mine painted locally as I'd heard shipping damage was more prevalent with pre painted hoods.

Perkins; no one works harder or better than their service department neither. Brock rules that department with total dedication!! Saving about $500 a month during this deployment to get new AEV wheels and maybe their hood there at Perkins. And if you're ever buying, Jon in new cars sales is a top notch manager to buy from..

Yeah we ordered our 2012 JKUR there too. I had them install the stage 2 Mopar/teraflex/fox lift with AEV pintlers and 35 duratracs. Worked a pretty fair deal with them for the entire package. We wheel a lot and have had no issues to date, except pulled the front drivers side brake sensor cable apart on our first trip with the new JK to Moab last April (on Poison Spider Mesa). Perkins replaced the sensor under warranty. They are also one of USAA's approved body repair shops. So after our hail damage last spring, they repaired my son's and my JKURs (including putting on the AEV hoods). My son bought his JK at the other dealer and has seemed to have more issues there. So far I'd have to say we've been very happy with our treatment by Perkins, including sales, financing, service dept, parts department, and body shop! Reading all the negative posts on the forum about other dealers around the country makes me feel very fortunate to have a good, responsive dealership. Both our JKURs came out of the body shop with the dentless repairs done flawlessly and the new AEV hoods painted and color matched perfectly. My sons jeep is Black and ours is Black Forest Green and the AEV hoods look, fit and match perfectly.

Why would "heavier" help? Do you think that the air flow won't overcome "heavier?"

I think he means heavier gauge steel. There is no flutter w/my AEV hood, & I'm still using oem hold downs w/the oem spring.

I got mine through the dealer when I bought my Jeep. It was a non-AEV dealer, just regular place. On the dealer website there was a link to shop Mopar accessories and the Heat reduction was on there (as well as the mopar non-vent version).

Price was $1062 installed, painted, and decal-ed. Couldn't beat it. It was perfect and complete when I went to pick up my girl.

I asked them how they could do it so (relatively) cheap compared to aftermarket including paint and they said they get their offset by keeping my stock hood. Fine with me, I didnt want to mess with selling it anyway.

Good news! I contacted AEV earlier this week asking about the 2013's and the dual nozzles (since the current model only has one washer nozzle). The response I received this morning: "Thank you for inquiring about our products. We have recently made the change to our hood to use the dual nozzles." Not sure of the availability, but this is certainly progress.

Yeah they did this literally one week after I installed mine with the single nozzle Same thing with the black cap on the rear bumper water tank... started putting them on and shipping them a week after I installed my bumper. Curse you AEV...

Actually there isn't any part that's made to be water proof. In Fact one of the parts that has the worst exposure and I know it had something to do with all those Jeep Fires...Study all Videos and pics, look for what area you think the Fire started. I really don't understand how they can Investigate a house burnt to the ground, just ashes left and know where.when and how it started.
But on Wranglers no one could find the cause...LOL...or even say what area it started, which isn't that hard to figure out, a third grader could do that.
Well the Power Distribution Box is open on the bottom. so you could remove the Lid and it would have a better chance staying dry from the hood covering it the then bottom's chance of upsplash getting into all the circuit boards etc....

I like this hood a lot & it's something I would consider getting but I highly doubt the lack of hood flutter has anything to do with its weight. It's almost surely the vents which allow more air to escape instead of pushing up against the hood.

I had my dealer order me an AEV hood about three weeks ago after my original hood was damaged during shipping. I expected it to have a single washer nozzle but it had the duals. I'd say they are readily available at this time.

AEV is alright.. But the RK Sport Hood is way better IMO.

Looks better, functions better and also comes in carbon fiber!

Sorry, I disagree, the AEV looks way better. Good thing they have options to make all of us happy

I like all the hoods currently out except the Nemesis hood, but maybe that will grow on me like the RK hood did.

Everyone has the AEV hood, the less seen hoods are Truck Masters and RK.

Myself, I prefer the road less traveled.

When I called Pekins about a lift, the parts manager stated they stoood behind only AEV, and not Terraflex. I wanted Terraflex, but after being convinced I went with AEV. I would like to research this RK hood, but I don't think carbon fiber would look good on a Cosmo Blue Jeep! As far as the front and rear bumper combo, I am pretty much sold on Rugged Ridge; one for their pricing on Extreme Terrain vs Quadratec. Big price difference there, and they offer military 6% discount. I bought my first Jeep from Faricy. Great sales team at the time, but service department lacked big time. Perkins is by far the best dealership I have ever been to.

Not a bad looking hood. However, since it is carbon fiber, I imagine trying to add a snorkel option on it would be difficult unless it came with the cutout. Trying to cut on carbon fiber is very tricky and easier to f&ck up.
