I'm pretty sure anyone running Bilsteins knows full well that their suspension isn't MADE IN THE USA.

Lets grow up a little.

Bilstein is German... PERIOD.

Made in USA is nice when comparing against chinese crap, but Made in USA is not always the best possible component. Everyone tries to buy USA when thats the right piece.

Anyhow, I don't see AEV trying to sell me on Made in USA on parts that aren't... They are perfectly honest about the source of their Pintler wheels being Chinese.

And if you think you got USA made Bilsteins from some other manufacturer, you're

Anyhow, I got no beef with AEV, I haven't had a bad product from them yet, and I recommend them to anyone who asks. And I recommend Teraflex too, and Rock Krawler, and so on and so on.

Some folks might be surprised to learn that you don't have to marry a manufacturer, you can mix and match. And ultimately, it is YOUR truck, and don't let anyone bully you into any brand, because NO ONE is great at everything.

--edit--

I'd like to also point out that the ONLY people I've ever seen complaining about an AEV lift are people who are not running one. I have yet to run into someone with an AEV lift on their truck(or formerly on their truck) crying about the decision to use that brand. What I mean is that the bash on AEV seems exclusive to people who chose some other lift. Not people that are unhappy with the AEV lift itself.

I like mine, and I run in street and trails. For what I paid, I think I got a great suspension. If I was a hard crawler guy, I might have looked at something else. But its not like my truck is a street queen. It gets a good mix of road and hard trails. I am happy with what I got. Discount or no.

Great post!! My problem was with a vendor opening their mouth.

I just bought and installed a 2.5" AEV Dualsport lift. I consider myself very picky, and found there stuff top shelf.

The instructions are poor at best, but if you take your time and read your good to go.

I also gave them a call, and the guy I spoke with was very informed and helpful.

As far as pricing goes, sure I would have like to saved 10-20%. But like other quality products, they don't have to throw you a bone with discounts to get you to buy.

Its not that a vendor can't have an opinion, its just that a vendor bashing the practices of another vendor is a little tacky.

Every business has its hardships with their suppliers, but airing that dirty laundry directly with the consumers is not exactly top form.

If he was airing a quality or safety issue that a consumer would need to know about, that would be different. But simply that he doesn't like working with them is kinda odd for a vendor to discuss with consumers.

No dirty laundry, no bashing. Aev doesnt discount their products. Period. I did say good things about their products. If your looking for a suspension system AND a good deal, I simply highlighted Rock Krawler products as an alternative. We sell and install many AEV products at customers request. I never try to sway their decision unless they ask what kind of deal can I make on Aev. We stock and install the Procal and D44 diff skids in our store. Lighten up people, can't we all just get along and quit picking apart everything anyone writes on here?

JPI1 you, just like other vendors will continue to shove RK down our throats because you can make the most money on it, while continuing to pass some of that savings on to us to make us feel better about it too. I have first hand experience in this within the last 6 months.

Former owner of an RK Max Travel 2.5 kit that had a casting crack in critical components when delivered, and bad fit and finish throughout. Oh, and if you have a problem with an RK kit, be prepared to deal with tech support and customer service who will treat you like a 2 year old throughout the process, even when it's entirely their fault.

They did ultimately do the right thing and refund my money so I could buy a superior AEV kit. Vendor took their time about it as well, and didn't order the new stuff when it was in stock and I asked them about it several times. 3 months later, and there's $2300 of my money tied up in Jeep parts with none of them on my Jeep.

AEV doesn't have to discount their products. They are just in a whole other league. And PKI1, you did not say good things about their products. you slammed the design of something you've probably never seen to be honest, because you can't get a discount or freebies for yourself. Chances are, you like most other vendors aren't even set up with AEV because there's no profit margin, and when someone requests it from you, you just order it from Quadratec and expect further business.

Never even considering PKI1 as a vendor, even if I wanted RK crap.

I agree with this. I won't say anything about RK because I don't own it. I have been in mine with AEV vs a friends RK and we both agreed mine had better on road quality. For my purpose, AEV has been good. I get bashed on a different forum all the time for my AEV and Teraflex tire carrier. I don't go to that site because if they aren't given free stuff and discounts they find a way to bash those companies.
