This should be interesting, and totally not cause all kinds of debate.

Looking forward to the numbers!!

I opened mine up, I have the 46212 w/the muffler at the rear. I'd been to afe's site & other sites several times & never saw the 46218 cat back.

I live in the sticks, & don't know where there is a dyno anywhere near here. My guess is at least 2 yrs away. My JK was ordered 2 weeks ago so I wont have it for a month or two. I still want a CAI, but haven't decide which one, leaning towards RIPP. I may look into a dyno once I get it.

Wanderlust is correct. If you buy aFe 49-46217, you get the y-pipe and an extra pipe to delete the exhaust loop. I think PieFace posted the wrong y-pipe photo by mistake. If you buy aFe 49-46215, which is what I have, you only move the crossover and keep the loop. You can buy aFe 49-46216 to delete the loop if you already have the y-pipe.

The dyno information will be even better, since I have the same aFe 49-462212 exhaust. I thought the original exhaust getting tested was the aFe 49-46218 that moved the muffler from the stock location.

I did post the wrong pic of the Ypipe, the one we are using does not alter the loop in chrysler's design. The exhaust is the rear exhaust right now, but im in contact with AFE to try to switch it to the one I pictured at the beginning of the thread.

Summary/Catchup - so... you are retaining the stock loop which feeds into a collector, and just replacing the exhaust sytem AFTER that point. No y-pipe or loop eliminator.

Your system, in its final configuration, is the one that has a short length of pipe, muffler, and the remaining pipe to go over the rear axle and exit with no additional mufflers or resonators.

Correctamundo?

I understand you also have a CAI. I'm looking forward to pics of your installed unit.

I'm sure you can barely wait to hit the dyno next Saturday. TIA for sharing!

He's using the Y pipe w/o the loop eliminator, & he wants to get the cat back w/the muffler moved forward in front of the rear axle( 49-46218).
Y Pipe: 49-46215

Im going to dyno and test both exhaust systems. I ordered the wrong one originally, so Im going to sell it to a friend and test it on the 18th as planned. I also ordered the other exhaust from AFE wich will relocate the muffler in front of the rear axle. Its going to be in stock this week so I dont expect to be able to test both on saturday, You guys may have to wait another week for the second exhaust. But ill get you everything else this weekend as promised.

So in short, We are going to dyno-
AFE CAI 54-12092
AFE YPIPE 49-46215
AFE CAT BACK 49-46212
AND
AFE CAT BACK 49-46218

The Y pipe im using should keep the loop intact and should keep the exhaust "scavanging". (requires equal length pipes)

Now I've got it - I was reading 4dr and thinking 2dr. You're putting on the 46215 which attaches to the stock loop and moves the crossover toward the rear, and your [latest] exhaust from there is the 46218 which has a single muffler before the rear axle. Your dyno results should be similar to installing the 46218-only on a 2dr.

AZ, do you know the numbers for the 46218 on a 2-door?

I've been running the AFE CAI with the blue filter in my 2012 2-door automatic JK for about two weeks. Mileage went from 16.5 pmg to 18.9 while running hard to hear and feel the added power and intake noise. Low end power is about the same, but engine feels a little smoother. There is a DEFINITE power gain at the top end, picks up revs really fast over 3500 rpm, redline comes immediately in first through third gears letting the tranny shift itself, does 100 mph (by the GPS) easily. Don't know about the usefullness of these gains off-road, but it sure is handy on the street. Only complaint was lousy instructions, with me having to struggle unncesarily in removing the temp sensor -- the sensor comes out of the OEM tube without the housing, which is glued to the intake tube. Use a small ignition wrench and careefully turn the sensor itself a quarter turn and it should come out by pulling it straight up. I'm still running the OEM exhaust, but am looking forward to reprogramming the ECU when someone comes up with a canned tune for the Pentastar. I too eageerly await dyno results, I'm sure I'm not imagining the gains.

I would love to see that kind of mileage upgrade. My truck gets about 300 miles to the tank. 15 mpg. Dosent seem to matter highway or city. Anyone know a good precise way to test mpg before and after?

I just fill my tank, take the miles driven since my last fuel fill and divide by the amount in gallons of fuel just added. I then reset my trip meter.

Ex.: 344 miles divided by 18.134 gallons added = 18.969 mpg.

Hope this helps.

That's the only reason I'm interested.

Every time I put my foot into it, I look behind me for rubber I'll have to replace too soon.

I can attest to better MPG, I installed just the Gibson muffler, and after 1 week, I am crossing thresholds on EVIC, and Phone Gas Calc, I hadn't passed in 3 months.

I am seeing about 2 MPG better. Acceleration seems smoother as, I think 1 week has broken muffler in, and it sounds awesome.
