Antenna-X. They're in the WF vendor section. I (and many others) bought a black stubby that looks great, works great (so far), and won't smack into windshield mounted aftermarket lights like the stocker does.

PM Antenna-X for deals.

Your very own antenna thread! Lots of comments about various brands, styles, etc.

Replace stock antenna...

13 innch from Antenna X Works great...I don't do AM so cant tell about that but FM and SAT are both great.

Also if you have windesield mounted lights, it won't bang into them on the bumpy drives

That antenna has nothing to do with SAT. You SAT antenna is in the center of your roll bar under the cover.

Cut your factory one and paint it black, you can make it as short as you want

I'm thinking soldering. Still, for $18 delivered from shorty antenna source, I'm very happy with mine.

I should have been more clear on my question, how did get the ball off of the end of the antenna? Reinstallation is the easy part.

I've seen it done with just a good set of wire cutters.

I used my vise, tightened it enough so the antenna could slide but the ball wouldn't go thru, slid it a few times and it came right off. After you cut the antenna you'll have to file the cut side down a bit to get the ball back on.

Thanks. I pretty much figured out how to cut an antenna. I wanted to know how difficult it is and the process used to get the ball off the shaft so it can be reinstalled on the cutdown shaft.

I used a pair of vice grips and just twisted the ball off. I used JB weld to put it back on and then painted it.
