Aftermarket stuff from dealer

Questions about aftermarket bumpers etc from MOPAR when ordering JK.

1. Can you have a bumper like the AEV or MOPAR off road bumper put on from the factory or is it installed at the dealer.

2. If from the dealer, is this something they are used to doing and qualified to do?

3. Looked on the MOPAR website and the off road bumper is no longer there, anybody else see that?

4. When it was on the website there was a disclamer that said it was not ment for vehicle protection or something to that effect, I would assume these are street legal and that was just a general disclaimer?

I ask because I would like to do as many mods that are from the "factory" as possible. I live in NJ, my close friend who is in the insurance industry said the insurance companies are looking for any reason to not cover in an accident, for example like modifications that were not meant to be on the vehicle from the factory.

Anything from the MOPAR catalog is NOT factory installed, they are all dealer installed. Most of the parts in the catalog are renamed aftermarket parts anyway. I know the Mopar bumper light bar is a renamed Rugged Ridge part.

I would just talk with your insurance agent and see what he/she says. Bring pictures of the parts you want [like a quadratec catalog] and just ask.

Talking

As the previous member mentioned, Mopar does not manufactuer any themselves, but their quality is top shelf , never had issues with the Mopar Brand, very well made and the fitment is 100%.

If you have the dealer install the items you are looking at , you put the responsibilitiy on them, and the warranty dos not get affected in any way. If that is the way you want to go , it might help you in how you feel. Most of the members on here including myself rather work on our Jeep , that is do as much of the preventive manitenance and mods our selves, and deal with the dealer later " If needed" , regarding our mods and warranty.

As far as your issurance worries, that is something only you at the end will have to over-come. I am at the point in my life , I do what I want when it comes to modding my Jeep, If your vehicle passed the state inspection,, you are legal period.... If it was up to the certatin agencies, we will be all driving these new smart cars, not me -- not my style...lol We all work hard in life and have our ways of relieving our stress, and if that is wrenching and modding our your Jeeps, ENJOY. Remember JEEP stands for ,,, " JUST EMPTY EVERY POCKET"... lol

Unless you get a rider they are only going to pay for OEM replacement parts.

Aftermarket parts can be covered with your insurance policy, but you will have to pay for the extra coverage. All insurance companies are different, so you will have to ask your agent.
