aftermarket windshield

I've swan the thread before, however, I cannot find it. I'm driving to work and I'm watching the new crack, I just earned, grow.
Can someone point me in the right direction for a new windshield? I saw a thread for a windshield that won't break. It was some kind of plexyglass, I think.

That's all well and good, but I'd still have to put our killer 'lil Jeep and grill sticker Easter eggs on there before it gets installed.

In all seriousness, that seems like a serious windshield.
It might be something to consider when the time comes.

They're used by NASCAR, as well as a # of off-road racing events. Supposedly they rarely break, even in rollovers.

They are polycarb... I've been wearing polycarb windshields on my face for 30 years or so

The small ones for your face are ridiculously hard to break (I've done it, but it took a cement truck), but they scratch up a lot easier than glass does.

Polycarb will scratch and fade much faster than glass. I have one in my 240sx. Have to hit it up with a polishing bonnet often. And then it starts to get all wavy looking. Not ideal for street use. I'm not even sure they are DOT approved.

Do you NOT recommend it? This product says it has a scratch resistant layer on it.

Depends on what kind of coating it is. Hard silicone coatings are sprayed on and tend to not last as long as a transparent titanium web sheeting. They don't give specifics on the website.

Made the purchase. I'll have it in a week or so. When I get it attached I'll share my first thought on it.

Well 3 months in on my jeep and I'm down 1 windshield already so even if it did scratch or fade over time probably cheaper in the long run.

I think so too. I was fortunate enough to make it a little more than a year.

I had a rock hit my windshield the other day, but no damage. Is it wrong that I was disappointed that there was no damage? I would definitely replace with one of these. Almost looking forward to it.

I am really looking forward to your results. Especially concerning install and how it holds up to wiper use. The city rocks the roads up here. It always sucked in the past but they have started to use bigger rock and it has destroyed my windshield in a year of use. Do you mind telling how much you ended up paying? Thanks for taking the plunge.

Yeah, I'm excited also. The windshield was $199 and shipping via UPS from Montana to Spring, Texas (just north of Houston) was only $24.

Have this windshield on my favorites, will be keeping an eye on this, they chip coat roads where I live and a rock got me last year for a new windshield.

I'm keeping an eye on this too. While I was going to replace my rusty windshield frame and new glass at the same time, I'm holding off to see how this polycarb deal works out long run.

Got my windshield just now (a day early). I'm going to try to have it installed Thursday or Friday morning.

It's very thin and floppy. It reminds me of a big hand saw. It appears to be the right shape and size.

It requires a special adhesive. Normal windshield adhesive will not stick to the scratch resistant coating.

It does not have the black strip around the edges like all other windshields do. It says it doesn't need that because its to protect the normal glue from sunlight. It also says you can add it if you want to cover up the glue lines. It says its just spray on.

Updates to follow
