When the air bag light comes on you need to take it as soon as possible so the problem can be diagnosed and repaired. A malfunction may cause the air bags to not deploy in the event of a crash.

You need to get it scan to see what fault it is. It's ether a component failing or a poor connection. There's no real testing on airbag parts since that will deploy it. Scan tool will show you the code& can also see from there what components are working or not (if manufacturer put that in there system)

When it's happening, do you have anything at all in the passenger seat? Oftentimes it will sense weight that is close to the limit and the shifting cargo while you bounce and turn will make it think you're cycling between under and over the weight limit to enable and disable the passenger airbag. If it's happening with nothing in the seat, then definitely get it in the shop. If you have some, but light weight, it's designed to assume that it's a small passenger who would possibly be injured by an airbag, so it disables and the light lets you know. Sometimes a backpack or similar will cause the same effect.

I had the same issue with the airbag light. I took it into the dealer and they said it was the clock spring. They had to order the part and now the light is off.

I have an 09 and my light went off. I took it to the dealer and they read the code. It was the clock spring. The part and labor was about 500. It took about 2 hrs.

This information is correct for a 2007 JK. There was a light that indicated that the air bag was "off". There have been no weight sensors in the seats of JK's from 08 to the present. The air bags are always on. There are sensors which measure seat positions which will then make adjustments for air bag deployment. The air bag light coming on at all indicates that there is a problem somewhere in the system that has to be addressed or the air bags could malfunction. The vehicle should be brought to a dealer to take care of it.

I was thinking clock spring. Since it would seem like it if the light is coming on& off while driving. Most likely. But since he hasn't check for codes didn't want him to think that was it& just start with it. If course a bad connector contact could be it as well.

I received a recall notice for the same thing (clock spring) for my daughters 2007 JK. Hers is free to fix.
