I do not know about alarm systems, but you can not get a remote start with a manual.

Remote starts will never work on a manual transmission because there's nothing to push the clutch, right?

Been a few years since I've driven a stick, but don't you always have to push the clutch to start it?

I have a viper 5704, with remote start, and I also have a 6 speed. Works fine.

Yeah, that's the kind of scenario I was thinking of when I read the first post...

Evidently I'm wrong though and they do offer it on some cars. I'd never be brave enough to add it to mine. But then again I don't think I'd get a manual again unless there was some MAJOR benefit of doing so. In a sports car it could be fun. But in a jeep it seems more like work.

My father was loading some supplies into the back of his truck at home depot from one of those low platform push carts when some guy across the isle from him with a remote start in a manual started his vehicle with it in gear and it flew across the isle hitting the cart and pushing it up against my fathers leg in such a way that it fractured his leg. Bone sticking out and everything!!!!!!!

remote start in a manual is not good.

I can't set my remote start with it in gear, and touching the shifter turns the car off. This was either a poor install, or just stupidity on the driver. Hope your dad's ok now.
