ok so i was violated yesterday and im not happy about it :banghead: they stole my tires and my gas. and they cut the top....... the doors werent even locked!!!!!!!! i had locking lug nuts and a locking gas cap. the just punched a hole in my tank. i guess im lucky the guy next to me they stole his cadilitic converter. to steal the tire the just broke off the tire carryer on the back. then they went to town on my tires on the ground but haha sucks for them what they thought was chrome tires were just covers. they ripped a big hole in the back window and were just able to steal my change. i have the tuffy locking center console and they tried to pry it but i guess couldnt make it through. i really dont want this to happen again so if anybody knows of a really good alarm system that actually works please let me know. the reason i dont just get any alarm system is because whenever i hear a car alarm i honestly dont really pay attention. i just figure that its going off for no reason.
so if anybody knows of an alarm where idk maybe it electrocutes the guy or sends the guy from 300 charging at them with a baseball bat. my other idea was when it senses that someone is breaking in i want the car to just start, then have the radio blasting with the knight rider music. maybe that would scare theses jerks away. seriously though maybe one that will like alert my phone or some kind of key fob so i know when some no good jerk is trying to take what is mine.

Alarm

The Viper 2-way is a good one, having it installed next week. also have them adding a proximity switch. they are annoying, but really one of the only options for a convertible. It will beep when someone gets close and if calibrated right can be used with the top and doors off.

Hate to be the wet blanket for you, but save the money on an alarm system for a soft top.

They can be in and out of your Jeep before anyone can figure out what happened, even with an alarm.

Your best defense is have good insurance, and don't leave anything valuable in the Jeep, ever.

Bad things happen to good people, unfortunately.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Proximity alarm add-on is nice. I have had the windows out (half doors) on my TJ while eating lunch in a fast food place and just happened to watch some teens walk by and see the alarm light on. One decided to be 'smart' and stuck his hand in the window and wave it around to show off to his buddies. The Jeep blinked it's lights and chirped to warm them. The guy jumped so hard he almost fell into the car parked next to me, and his buddies were laughing at him.

It may not stop someone, but it can scare someone who doesn't want the trouble. IF this kid had just reached in another Jeep and then opened the door, sat down, acted like the Jeep was his, he could have taken his time doing whatever he wanted.

I don't count on an alarm to protect me always, I count on it to deter someone lazy.

If you want to add on another level of goodies, look into a reed system. I know it was used a lot on the TJ's to prevent them from being stolen, haven't heard much from the JK crowd though.

Thanks for All the help I like the idea of it detecting someone who is in the jeep. This is more peace of mind for me. I work in Chicago and I just hate the fact that people go around just trying to take something that some one else has.
