alarm system for soft tops

So I have just been violated!!! They got me good they stole my rear tire, gas and sliced open my top. I had locking lug nuts and a locking gas cap. They took the tire by just breaking the tire carrier mount. Then they just knocked a hole in my gas tank. Then they went to town on the tires that are on the ground. I think they must have given up because they found out that what they thought were chrome wheels were just plastic covers. Then for some odd reason they sliced my rear window wide open. The doors weren’t locked!!!!!! I have the tuffys center console so they couldn’t break in there. They tried to but failed at it. So if you’re in the market for the tuffy box I suggest you just suck it up and spend the 450 bucks.
Anyways im looking to get some really good alarm system idk maybe one where it electrocutes the guy or maybe send the dude from 300 charging at them with a baseball bat. My idea was to have the car sense that its being broken into and have it just start up and play the music from Knight rider. Seriously though I want something that is a really good alarms maybe it will alert my phone or a key fob. I don’t want one that just beeps the horn because nobody even cares about that anymore. I’m willing to drop some $$ into this just so I can catch the guy and take a 5 iron to his face. Thanks for hearing me out and helping me out.

Cant help you on any alarm systems, but i just wanted to say DAMN sorry Bout this. I did hear, though, that the lockable gas caps are pointless because the gas that is pumped into the newer jeeps goes through several turns making it impossible for a theif to siphone gas, but cutting a hole in the gas tank solves that. You have my support if you wanna kick some a** though!

I knew if I looked in my computer long enough I would find the thread I saved on this very topic! Take a look at this thread on a security system. Hope it gives you some ideas.

I bought the Cifford 320.3x made by Directed Electronics. They also make the Viper and 2 other lines. I also got the proximity sensor, so when I have no top, or doors it will pick up their motion. It has a remote that will let you know when the alarm goes off, which is a 2 way and the 1 way that just sets it and unsets it. Good up to 2000 feet by the way.

Installed at Car Toys for less than $500.00.

That's sickening. I like the KIT car idea. "Um Michael, Hey...your not Michael. MICHAEL! THEYRE RAPING ME!!!"

How do alarms work when the doors are off? Is there a setting or a switch to disarm the door sensors? Can the tailgate sensor (if equiped) be kept operational if the doors are disabled?

From what I hear about Chicago an armed sentry might not be a bad idea either way. Love your signature by the way!

I spent less than $200 on Amazon for a Viper 2-way system with the proximity sensor and voice module. You always have the option of installing it with the proximity sensor as the only trigger (no splicing into vehicle ignition wiring, etc). If someone opens a door, the proximity sensor will trigger the alarm. If someone tries to hotwire the vehicle, the proximity sensor will trigger the alarm. I set it up on my coffee table (temporarily wired into a battery buddy) and scared the hell outta the cats.

At home my Jeep is always parked in the garage, but, I am going to Montana and Washington for a few weeks and I need an alarm. I don't have power windows or door locks. I have the 2013 Wrangler Sport Gecko and I'm not sure what kind of alarm to get. I need help.

This is a soft top runner's biggest nightmare. Sounds like they in part wanted to steal and do you damage. I wish an electrocution type alarm was legal, but here in Canada (and I'm sure where you live) it's not. Where exactly did this take place? Parking lot, street in front of your house, etc.

This type of theft and vandalism is one of the reasons why I'm thinking of getting a similar alarm system. Unfortunately you are most likely stuck with an insurance deductible...

Hope this works out for you. Also looking for an alarm with a proximity sensor for when the doors are off.

My opinion is that any alarm that just cries and screams in the parking lot is near worthless in this day and age, most people ignore them. You really want/ need an alarm that either uses a transponder pendant to notify YOU or one that signals your cell phone. I had a Python in my F350 that did remote start, glass sensors, as well as whine and cry in the parking lot. The two best features were the remote start/cool down (Diesel) and the transponder alert. I had it go off once at the mall, I'm on the other side and hauled my tail to the truck. Mall Security said he'd chased off a couple of low life that appeared to be hanging around the truck, but they came back and tried to get in and the alarm scared them off.

The Viper, Python and Clifford are all part of the Directed family, and pretty similar products.

I had the Compustar 2W901R-SS 2way installed last year. It has hood sensor, shock sensors and the ability to add proximity sensor. Great remote start, long range, and options for adding smart phone module for unlimited range. It has worked flawlessly through one of the worst winters in history here on the praire's. It is easy to adjust the shock sensors, so leaving it in a parking lot with the tube doors on and the top down was a lot less worrisome last summer. I have the 508 D proximity sensor that I think I will get installed this spring, just to give it a bit more protection. My only concern is that they tend to be a bit touchy and need to be set just right to prevent unwanted false alarms going off.
I had a quality shop do the install, and was happy with the price and quality of workmanship.
