Alignment question?

I am switching for the stock crappy 16 inch steels and crappy tires to the rubicon rims and tire would I need an alignment after the new tires are put on? I got new tires put on and they are saying I am out of alignment and I have to much toe. I didn't think changing tire size affected the alignment. I could be wrong could somebody help. Thanks

Your toe is not going to change from swapping 225/75/16s to 255/75/17s. An alignment is not necessary either. Your speedo will need an adjustment.

So pretty much it was out of alignment for the factory? I didn't have them align it cause I wanted to double check I didn't think it should affect it either. So I guess I will be calling the dealership. But they will prob try to tell me it's from switching tires. The jeep only has 900 miles on it. It's brand new.

Don't need it for new tires.

If your jeep wanders all over the road when you let go of the wheel then maybe you do need an alignment.

I'm on my 3rd set of tires, never had an alignment done. Tracks straight drives great.

No. Your dealership is wrong. The jeep shouldn't be off at all. Tell them to print out your castor and toe degrees for you then cross check them here. There are many write ups on this forum regarding the right values. New tires/wheels does not change anything except the accuracy of your speedometer, mileage driven, eco..etc. They can flash your computer to change it to read correctly up to 32" tires. You'll only run into having to adjust this your self if you go larger than this.
