How easy is it to knock a jk out of alignment? I put on my 285s and didn't do a alignment, I'm getting one in a day or two, it seems like it ever so slowly pulls to the right if I take my hand off the steering wheel, will it be ok to wait a day or two to get the alignment? Is it normal to pull like that?
It is not all that uncommon for lhd vehicles to pull to the right a wee bit. Unless you are going to drive several hundred miles in the next day or two it should not hurt anything if it is only a slight pull. Make sure psi is the same in all tires. If you are board just for kicks sway front tires side to side.
This Jeeps steering is so imprecise, unless its doing U-turns by itself, I can't see how anyone would ever get the alignment as nice as most of the cars I have owned. Mine pulls slightly to the right too, but I am thinking its more due to the crown of the road.
Any solid front axle vehicle is going to handle waaay differently than one with a rack and pinion steering in the front. It takes a bit of getting used to. I had a '99 Dodge Ram, which was the first SFA vehicle I ever drove, and could barely keep it on the road for the first few hundred miles I drove it. Traded that for an '03 Liberty (IFS) and thought the steering and handling was so much better, then got my '13 Wrangler and, once again, could hardly handle it for the first couple weeks, almost to the point of trading it in for something else. Alas, I got used to it and now love it - of course! :thumb:
check air pressure, if it pulls to the right, add a couple pounds of pressure and see how it does. on new tires, I have run 4 different pressures until the tires have been rotated a couple of times.
I am 70 and have been doing this for a long time.
