All Black Rubicon Wheels

I just ordered a 2014 JKU Rubicon. I still have a couple of days to make modifications before the order is final. One thing I'd like is an all black version of the wheels, but they're not a listed option; however, I noticed on the jeep website that the Willys special edition seems to have the Rubicon wheels in all black. Has anybody seen or ordered these from Mopar? If so, I'd like to hear your opinion and see a pic if you have one. The Mopar website only shows drawings (!?!?!) of the various wheel options.

I have these wheels. They were standard in black on only two models, the 10A and now the Willys. They are part of a package so to get them, you have to buy the package. They are regularly available in dark grey, which I think looks nice. I know my black ones don't stay clean.

The Willys has solid black wheels, but the 10A (like the X package) has only black accented wheels.

There was a small window when they could be ordered as an option for the 2014. The only problem with stock black wheels is that they look like stock black wheels. The aftermarket gives so many more options.

Thanks guys. Going to check with my dealer today to see if I can get all black wheels instead of the black accented wheels at no extra cost.

Yeah...the Moab had them first...and they were all black if I remember correctly (with GY Silent Armors).

There have been various black versions since. 10A, Rubi X, black wheel package, and now the Willys. Some where all black...some where partial black.

Plasti-dip is your friend.

Just emailed my dealer to see if he can get these for my Rubicon. I think they look sharp on this Sport with the Black Wheel Group.

Better than the black accented stock Rubicon rims for my money.

Here's my 14 JKUS with the MOAB tire option.

If I remember correctly from the 2014 JK Order Waiting Room thread the all black wheel option was only available for 5 days.

It appears they are now only available on the Willys.

Dealer confirms the wheels are only available on the Willys. Too bad Jeep/Chrysler/Fiat can't figure out how give us a few more wheel (and tire) options. Seems like there's a missed profit opportunity here, but maybe the market is too small. I'd pay a few extra bucks to get the all black wheel even though it's otherwise identical to the stock Rubicon wheel. I'd even pay a few bucks more if it was black matte.

Anybody listening?

This isn't Plasti dip but a spray on bedliner called EZ Liner, went on really smooth, I scrubbed the wheels with dawn dish washing liquid 3 times then rinsed well and wiped with lots of 99% alcohol to make sure there was no residue left.

It took about a 1/2 - 3/4 can to do each wheel (inside and out), I had them on my Charger for about 6 months before I got rid of it, no chips or peeling, I'm thinking of doing my Rubicons wheels the same

It does is a gray/black color (blacker than it looks in the picture) and it goes slightly grayer after a few weeks but you can put tire shine on it and it brings it back.

I'm in Canada and it's available at Canadian Tire here, but I would imagine it's available elsewhere too.

Interesting option. Can you get that stuff off relatively easily without damaging the underlying finish? If so, it would be a good alternative.

It will come off with paint thinner which may also remove/partially remove any factory clear coat, I would say it's permanent, if you just want to do it to see how it looks then go with plasti dip.

I played around with it for a while before I did my wheels, I put it on a flat piece of aluminum and let it cure for a few hours then shot at it with a full auto BB gun from fairly close range to see if it would chip then I tried to remove it with a heat gun and scraping, heat gun wouldn't do anything and the scraper of course damaged the underlying surface.

There is a profit margin there and it's higher when you spent the extra money in the specific package. I got these and I like them and have been complimented on them.
