Already lifted?

It may just be me, but I feel like my JK came higher off the ground stock. It's a '12 (Arctic). I have no reason to believe it is lifted, but it sure seems like it to my untrained (newb) eye. Here are some pics:

What do you experts think?

Thanks. Kinda what I figured, but I'm new to all of this. I know I'll be asking dumb questions for a while. Glad this forum is welcoming to those of us who are new to the game.

No question is dumb. Unless, its really dumb but that's not dumb, sweet jeep, and I too love the white / black wheel combo.

You may have gotten lucky and the trained
monkeys chose stiffer rated springs for your jeep.
Check the tags on the coil springs

I'd love to check that out. (Just being honest, though I am not a mechanic. I'm not mechanically inclined. I've just ALWAYS loved jeeps. So glad to finally have one. Now I'm learning about things that I've never been interested in before, so this is REALLY a whole new world for me.

So, where would I find the tags?

Thanks

Thanks for all the compliments on the black/white contrast. When I saw this
Arctic in the showroom, I knew I'd leave with it. To me, there's not a better looking Jeep out there. (Don't we all feel that way about our pride and joy?)

But I do LOVE seeing other people's Jeeps to get ideas of what else I might be able to do!

Wow, is this addicting!

Just for curiosity, measure from the centre of your rims straight up to the lowest lip under the flares (not the outer most bit, the bit that tucks under about 1/2 inch).

Mine stock from the showroom, measured 526mm front and 509mm rear (thats just over 20 & 3/4in front and just barely over 20in rear).

The front measurement is spot on for factory specs for the Rubi and about 1/4 above factory specs for the sport. My rear measurements are strangely an inch lower than a stock rubi and 3/4 in lower than a stock sport. These "stock" figures are the specs from the service manual, but dont take into account different springs.

The tags are on the springs. They have got letters/numbers. The last 2 numbers are what you want. There will quite possibly be 2 different ones up front (passenger/driver), then the two rears will be the same (but different from the front) Hope that makes sense.
EX: Rear = 58, Front = 17 or whatever... That's what was stock on my Sport. I think Rubi's come with 60/19 maybe...

My stock 2 door sport had 55's in the rear and a 13 on the passenger side and a 14 on the drivers side in the front. Because we are RHD our driver sits on the same side as the fuel tank so we have on average a lot more weight on the right side of the vehicle hence the stronger spring.

Here are my springs.

So I guess I have 12/57?

So Artic Editions are Rubicons or is it a Sahara type with a Rubicon suspension?

At most, it's the latter. Not sure about the suspension, but the Arctic is based on either the Sahara or the Sport, not the Rubicon.

The Arctic is a Sahara with unique seats, badging, white accent interior, mopar tail light covers and gas cover. It does have the Rubicon wheels/tires. I've not seen any lit that says the suspension is Rubicon, but that's what my dealer told me, and it's what it looks like to my untrained (newb) eye.

In short, it's bad ass. I love it.

I just picked up a 4 door Arctic, Silver. I was actually wondering, not sure if this is the right place to ask, I love the wheels and tires, will a 2, 2.5, or 3 inch lift look stupid if I don't put monster tires on it? It already has the rubicon tires on it.

My rule of thumb would be more than 2" of lift starts to look foolish with stock tires. Maybe--maybe--2.5". Three inches would look silly.

Well those are the same spring I had on my Rubicon, and I see red shocks. Unless they changed things, the red shocks are Rubicon shocks.

That is actually what I was thinking, would the lift alone adversely affect the stock ride?

well it's not really a lift, just springs with different spring rates and better shocks. If anything, you'll have a more controlled ride since the springs aren't so spongey.

You decide - I dont mind the look, but will be sticking 33's on it when the stock tyres wear a bit more (only 25,000km on the s far)

Rubicon Express 3in lift on a 2 door with stock Goodyear Wrangler 245/75 17's

With Soft Top

With Hard Top

14/57 is a pretty low spring rate. A little on the higher side in the rear. Does it have the tow package? Many of you are being fooled by the term "Rubicon suspension". In most cases it just means gas mono tube shocks.

Arctic is based on the Sahara, but comes with Rubi struts(red)+springs, rims & tires. If you dig on Jeep's website, you will find info about the ground celarance differences.

I have the OME lift on with SRA's, and I think it looks dopey. Even my non jeeper co-workers can tell its lifted, and how weird it looks with stock tires. But hey, until I have 2k I can blow, looks like I'm wheeling with SRA's
