Alternator how to

Morning All,

Using the search tool on this forum and on google (#alternator/how to remove/ replace/ fix/ etc) I found no step by step guide how to remove the alternator (and replace it).

Old story: mud and water in alternator, squeals like a pig. Cleaned everything really nicely, replaced idler pulleys, and noise is still present.

Alternator is "brand new" - >9000miles, so I am hoping I can just replace the alternator bearings.

Any ideas? Any links for the "how to"?

Closest I got was this from ilikeguns :

Pm me for my cell number and I'll walk you through it. But basically disconnect neg on battery. Remove engine cover. Remove serp belt. Remove alternator. Reinstallation is opposite.

Hi CorvallisBattery,

Well, thats a helluva offer. Much appreciated.

I didnt see the offer straight away and time ran away so I decided to do it all today. And got it re-installed too.

I tried desperately hard to remove the bearing on the tensioner, but my torx head just ate up the bolt on the tensioner bearing. I wanted to replace it, but looks like I'll have to replace the whole thing.

Managed to free the alternator of some mud and small grasses, and the bearing squeaked on that one. Looks like a bearing replacement at the least.

Any ideas who sell really cheap tensioners and would send them to Canada? I know, its a tall order.

Much appreciated once again CorvallisBattery.
