Alternator Question

If this has been talked about before I appologize for asking again. My first question; What is the output of the stock alternator? I have a 2012 2 door sport...Planning for the usual mods lights, winch, etc and was wondering if the stock alternator is large enough to accomodate the added load. As soon as the wife releases the funds (LOL) I will be ordering an spod.

The alternator output on the JK's is good.
It's the stock battery thats just not build for heavy loads.

Odyssey makes a great heavy duty commerical battery that drops right in. I think the one in mine is 2,000 cold crank amps?

It's got plenty of juice for the winch, lights, ARB cooler, stereo, CB and whatever else we have plugged in.

I used to use Optimas but thier quality went downhill after they moved production to Mexico. After 2 replacements in one year I gave up on them.

I didn't think the amperage output on a stock alternator was that high...hmmmm the build sheet didn't mention it. Oh well, I figured the stock battery was junk anyhow, they usually are! For as much as they want for the Optimas one would think the quality would still be there

Optima's quality went way south when the factory moved to Mexico. They are using recycled lead now.
Odyssey is a virgin lead battery, I have a pair in my boat that are 9 yrs. old. They're, Hawker Trolling Thunder branded.
For about 3 yrs. they were unobtainable because the US Armed Forces were buying every battery they produced. Hawker, finally caught-up with that demand and introduced the Odyssey brand. They even offer armored or shielded case battery's.

I would like to know the part # or, Odyssey model that interchanges with the stock JK batt.

According to another forum, the Odyssey PC1220 will fit in place of the OEM battery. But the CCA aren't that much higher. I was hoping there was an Odyssey model that would drop and and have some "kick in the seat of the pants" amps. Especially for $300+ a battery.
