Probably a anchor point for right hand drive models.

No, it is the seat belt mount, look at the pix I posted, its the same on the passenger side, the real question is why they moved it

My seat belts are attached to that mount on the seats, also. I have side airbags, maybe that's why the difference, as WXman suggested?

No side airbags here, but an august build date, like bill? I wonder why they rethought the mount

I knew we were both pre september, and tan if I recall. I assume the seats had the mount already, why take them off. maybe a vendor change? Or fearful, a safety issue

Maybe Rubis use this mount because there is no place to mount the belt near the roll bar on the floor?

I don't think there's any difference in the basic frame/roll bar/seat/body arrangement in the models.....

Except...

2-doors have slide and tilt (or whatever they're called) front seats and 4-doors don't. Maybe that's it. 2-door vs 4-door?

Can't attach set belts to a seat that tilts forward.....

Edit: BINGO... that's it. 2-door vs. 4-door.

All the posters here with seat belt not bolted to the seat have 2-doors, those with it bolted to seat have 4-doors...

A-HA! Maybe that is it. Mine is a 2-door with the slide tilt mechanism. Slide and tilt wouldn't work well with the belt in the way every time it kicked forward. Except there is no slide and tilt on the driver's side... is there?

I think so. That's why you can't install a Tuffy or Bestop locking security box under a slide and tilt driver's seat.... because of the slide and tilt mechanism.

Hell, I thought we couldn't install a security box because of all the electric wiring for features we don't have!

I think Bill may be on to something here; my 4 door has the seat belt attached to the seat.

I'm sure Bill is 100% correct. Two doors mount to the inner post frame while the 4 doors mount to the seat. Mine is a 12 JKUR and its on the seat. Two friends of mine have '11 MY 2drs and they are mounted to the inner frame post.
