Love black wheels, had them on my '09. My fatal mistake was getting a black wheel with a fake beadlock. Only did I realize I disliked them when I started to see them everywhere. On my '12 I put argent Pintlers on and I am very satisfied. Thankfully, I've not yet seen another set around town.
If I bought a set of blacks, I'd get the Saverge or a classic 8 hole.

You won't be sorry. It's funny when I park somewhere watching all the folks walking by stop and bend over and look at them. The definitely look sweet on Jeeps

I like black on all colors but black.

Too much is way to common and IMO looks plain to me.

Each their own I guess

I don't have my crush yet, but i saw a white on white built 2012 with white wheels and it looked good. I was thinking of doing th same with the crush, white wheels. I think with no top it would look good, but with the black ard / soft top don't think it would look that good... maybe color matched top is what's needed.

To each his own. I'm plasi dippin' my stockers soon.

I like the pro comp 8179 look with its bit of contrast.

I think the black rock 909 with silver are about the hotest thing ever. It seems like if you got a bit of rock rash on them it wouldn't really show as bad.

I'm a noob so take my worthless opinion for what it is worth. I saw someone that was going to get something like this and a more experienced wheeler stated that it was going to collect mud in the wheel. I have also heard that chrome is prone to getting spots from road salt. Just some things to consider.

These are not chrome. They are polished and most likely have a clearcoat on them. Spots are going to show on black more than any other color.

If it were me, I would go with a wider tire. Not much on pizza cutters personally. That being said, that setup will work and fit fine. However, many of the ProComp wheels are on national backorder with no ETA, so be sure to check that they are actually in stock before ordering.

Different strokes...yadda yadda.

I love the look of black wheels, especially on a JKU, but not with every body color. I don't have the cash to get new wheels, and I feel like unless I'm totally lifting the vehicle (I'm not) that I prefer to see the lines of the stock wheels. So - stock Wrangler wheels in black are only available on the MW or Arctic editions.

So I'm going the plasti-dip route as soon as it gets a bit warmer here.

That said, I really like those retro white colored spoked wheels. Maybe I'll do WHITE plasti-dip for my white JKU. Hmmm...

English measurements are self explanatory.
Metric: the first number is the section width in mm, the second is the width/sidewall height ratio and the third is the rim size

Just out of my ass, a 265/70/17 is 265 mm wide at the tread X 0.70 wall height and 17" on a rim. To get the diameter in inches, first convert 265 -> in which is 10.4, then x 0.7 = 7.28". Multiply that x 2 because you have a side wall at the top and bottom = 14.56 then + 17 = 31.56" diameter

Black wheels are waaaay overdone on jeeps imo. Not that they dont look alright on some jeeps, but for the most part i just do not like the look...makes a jeep look kinda cheap and junky if you ask me, plus 4 out of 5 modded jeeps have black steelies and its completely unoriginal.

But thats the beauty of a wrangler, you can mod them as you wish...to each their own, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder i guess

x2. I like the two-toned look myself, so i'm gonna go with a balck and machined wheel. Right now im leaning towards the XD Crank black and machined wheel.

I was beginning to think I was the only one who didn't like them. A little contrast is a good thing...

You should check out this site! I'm a newbie myself, and was guided to this site. It took me a few min, but I finally figured out how to properly use it even thought it's insanely straightforward

Enjoy!

Wouldn't that mean you'd want a painted wheel in the instance of a Jeep? Weren't the military Jeeps color matched steelies? More recent were white painted steelies with (chrome) hub caps, right?

What would you consider a 'classic' Jeep look?

Not hating, just asking.

For me, I can go many ways. I think it depends on the vehicle as much as the color. Sometimes I like the pop of silver/alloy wheels, other times I like the more subtle gray/black look.

I really like the Mineral Gray on the Mountain/Mojave Editions, and was looking at getting some (too expensive) or painting my Silver Moabs (time-consuming) in a similar way. I also love the Pintlers in Argent, but they are pricey as well.

When all the PlastiDip threads came around, I did like the stock wheel in the flat black, and the convenience of time/reversibility has me wanting to do that (if i don't get MB72s). Plus the black would match a bedlined grill.

Although, I'd leave the thinnest lip (where weights would be clipped) silver to give it a little break. I'm not a fan of the D-Windows(?) with the silver rims, as they make the center portion look too small.

That said, it really is all about what you want. If one buys black wheels "because that's what you're supposed to do," then I don't like that.

However, if one buys black wheels because he/she likes them, regardless of what others do, even if it happens to be popular, that doesn't mean they are not unique.

I do wish there were more gray options, though.

In my area, there aren't many modded Jeeps, so if I go with black wheels, then mine would be unique.

You are right. It may be popular on a forum board but may not be in your area which in turn makes you unique!

Everyone should buy what they like regardless of what others think.
