I'm all for everyone getting what they want for their own vehicle. I'm partial to classic styling on the wheels I choose for my Jeeps.

Your Wrangler has the best looking wheels that I have seen on this thread, great choice?

Thanks. They're Mickey Thompson Classic III. Some of the cheapest 17x9 wheels out there. But I like the look.

I was all for black wheels when I first got my jeep. But then seeing everyone with the same color and even same wheels,I decided to go a different route.

15x8 Nomad wheels
Anthracite spokes with polished lip

The JK has too much black on it already to not have black wheels. My .2
You just need some color on the black wheel to make it look good.
If you have the body matched fenders and top then Chrome looks good.

But, think about it this way...there are about 15,000 wranglers sold a month. Besides a couple of the special editions, they come with silver wheels. A small percentage of wrangler owners change wheels. Out of the ones that do, certainly a large percentage of them opt for black wheels over chrome or silver. That is largely due to modding the vehicle towards offroad use. A lot of the in town only mall crawler chrome will still opt for chrome or the like. You are on a forum that represents a very very small portion of jeep owners and most are on this forum because of mods. So if you spend all your time on here, you get the impression that EVERYONE has black wheels. But in reality, it is just EVERYONE on here. On the street, I would guess at least 90% of JKs are still rocking silver wheels. In this case, my pseudo facts are actual facts. I don't have any special love for black wheels or anything. In fact I actually like the grey/tungsten style alot. I ordered my black rugged ridge wheels with the rash guard and had that painted black and green for a little pop of color on the wheels. Ill post a pic when I get home tonight. The rash ring is one of my favorite parts about those wheels. I can go back to all black if I just remove it. I have seen them painted red as an accent of body color. Protects your wheels and adds a little extra.
Sorry. I'm just not buying your load of hooey. Your facts are based on your opinion only and not backed up with any hard data. That being said have a nice day and lets let everyone enjoy whatever choices they make....as they should.

Like others have said, I think black looks better on non-black Jeeps, especially red, white, silver and billet, commando green, etc. Not as much a fan on black, dark blue, probably not on a dark gray.

That being said, if I change wheels (not planning to now), I doubt I'll put black on my billet JKUS. Probably anthracite or a similar finish. Not chrome or polished, unless I get a wheel with a polished accent. IF I did go with a black, wheel, it would have to have a polished or painted accent of some type to break up the black.

Amazing or hideous? Could really use a 2nd opinion.
PS: Does anyone know when the 2014s are supposed to come out?
The only color combo I've seen that I didn't like was white body/white wheels. I say go for the orange on orange.

Thanks for the input also 'jeepered67'. It's funny you mentioned white of white though, that was my "plan B".
I say was because I just saw 'ohioviper' and 'kswerks'. Wow. Beautiful. Mind if I copy one of you guys but with the new orange color (AMP'D)? When I start getting all my compliments, I promise to give you credit!

That's the great thing about having a Wrangler... only thing to limit you is your imagination. I have to admit, that's good use of color and contrast. The 'custom' look is pretty cool.

Matching your outfit to the vehicle might be going a bit far though.....

I'm bucking everything that everyone else seems to be into. I have black wheels on a black JKU, I like my white tire lettering, and I'm accenting with chrome. And I like it, dagnabbit.

I'm traditionally more attracted to silver alloy wheels much like the stock 17's that came on my JKUS. I've had some form of silver/chrome wheels on every vehicle I've ever owned. That said, I just plastidipped my stock wheels and I'm liking it. I've not decided if I'll get black wheels when I upgrade, or stick with silver and just use plastidip to change the color when I feel like it.

I'm not sure I understand the "cheap" comments though. It would be reasonable opinion to state one didn't like it because it's subdued, hides the wheel, doesn't attract your eye, etc.... It's akin to passing judgement to move forward from those opinions and saying it looks cheap. To me, that doesn't feel right.

There doesn't seem to be anything cheap about being a Jeep owner. Thanks for all the great pictures in all colors =)
