I have the 2.5" pucks with shocks.
But I have a 2-door with heaviest rate springs that were sacrificial pieces from an Unlimited with a tow package. The springs do a great job of taking up the extra weight generated by my bumpers, winch, overlanding gear, & trailer.
That said, I personally feel that all of the JKs are under-sprung (and under-dampened) in their stock condition. I advocate making sure that you have enough spring and go from there.
35s are bigger/heavier tires than anything stock. They introduce more dynamics to the suspension. Even if you don't intend to add bumpers or winch, I'd look at a kit that includes springs and shocks that will work with the additional loads.
Teraflex's spring kit, Rock Krawler, OME, Nth Degree, etc.
