Antenna X 24"

I wasn't happy with the reception on the 13" Antenna X, so I used my Amazon gift card toward the 24" CB version. MUCH better reception. Hell, I even like the look of 24" better than the stubby.

Does it flex, or is it stiff?

Stiff, with a tiiiiny bit of flex if you try to bend it. It wobbles a bit while driving at about 40+ MPH.

Gand,

Just did that on my daughter's, the stubby is ok but I am in Los Angeles and there are drop-off's. The 24 is good & solid.

Got the same one - I love the looks - though I don't listen to am/fm - I'm thinking of relocating to the rear and running one CB antenna with a splitter to kill two birds with one stone - then covering up the front antenna hole with another trail rated badge.

I'm glad I made the switch. I can pick of those 'fringe' stations again.

I did the exact same thing and I'm happy I did. The reception is much better and that stubby AntennaX was starting to look like crap. I was wondering about putting a spring on it or not. It's short enough that I don't think it would get stuck on anything, but I don't know.

How is the reception compared to the factory antenna? I could care less about looks and length; is the reception better than stock? I can only get 2-3 stations with my stock antenna (I'm 60miles away from most stations).

I bought the 13" and the 24". Both were worse than stock. After that I cut about a foot off the stock antenna and it was still better that the others.

Even though I rarely tune in AM/FM I'm starting to regret my 14" purchase. I may Plasti Dip my OEM antenna this weekend and go back to it.

Nothing but good to say about my 24" Antenna X. I did not like the short 5" one but this one has great reception on both AM and FM. I do not use this for CB.

Hi

I like the more military look with the 24" antennax.

To make it even cooler and even more a military look and taller with maybe better reception I added a Heavy duty spring. Just plug and play.

Just another option for the look of a shorter antenna. On my Harley I tried all types of hidden and powered antennas and they all lacked range. I tried a tunetrapper hidden antenna in combo with a 12 inch shorty and it works Great.

For the hd spring, which adapters did you use to go from the 1/4x20 standard antenna mount to the 3/8x24 on hd spring? Thanks

Hi

If I remember correct. If You look at the 24" it is a CB antenna with 3/8x24 and when You order it, it comes with an adapter for the Wrangler that might be 1/4x20 . So on the 24" there are already an adapter on it, unscrew that one and mount it on the lower part of the HD spring. On top of the HD spring You mount the 24" antenna with out the adapter.

Anyway it is plug and play, almost

The adapter is on the lower part, under the HD spring. This adapter comes on the 24" antenna when You buy it.

aaah. got it. mystery solved. I was hoping to add the hd spring to the 13" to try to get back some of the stock reception. I might just plasti dip the stock and get rid of the 13"

thanks for the info.

But how does it perform on the trails? Are you still hitting them and everything?

I tried the 13" off-road antenna, but quickly switched back to stock. The reception was horrendous, and I wasn't at all thrilled that that it would bend at highway speeds.
Reluctantly went with the 24", and I couldn't be happier. Reception is as good, or better than stock. Very stiff compared to stock, and it holds up well going through a carwash (or should I call it a Jeepwash?).

As a point of reference, I bought the Heavy Duty SS-3H. That is the WRONG one to buy The adaptor is too small off of the antennaX. Guess I will try the other one.

AntennaX CB Replacement AM FM Antenna for Jeep Wrangler JK : Amazon.com : Automotive

I found that the AntennaX adapter was not a very good fit in the Jeep mount. Seemed like the adapter threads may be the wrong pitch?

The SS-3H is actually correct, you will need to separate the hex base that came from the 24 unit from the mast, then insert the mast into the female end of the SS-3H, the male end of the SS-3H screws into the hex base that came with your 24", then you fit the reducer just like you would to the hex base.

Look closely @ Omar's picture above and you will see the setup.

I had a SS-3H on order for my firestik that showed up today. I tried it on the 24" and while it looks good, the SS-3H weighs quite a bit and I am afraid it is placing additional stress on the reducer in particular, so I removed it and transplanted the spring to the firestik.

Just got two of them delivered yesterday, put one on each jeep. Looks far better, quick trip yesterday thru a known problem reception area showed near stock performance.
