AntennaX The Shorty- Great Mod

Cant imagine JK wrangler still comes with long and steel antenna... Saw this antenna the other day on amazon, very easy to install and works great. No reception issues with FM/AM or SAT.

I too recently bought that same antenna and while I love the look of it, I've noticed a huge difference in reception. I live 40 miles outside of Boston and 20 outside of Providence. With the stick antenna I have always been able to pick up the signal from both cities just fine but since I've installed the Stubby, I can no longer get a decent signal from nearly any of the Boston stations. I think this antenna is totally YMMV.

Your radio antenna has nothing to do with the satt radio. And as short as that is, once you get out of the city you will get zero to no reception. But you will look good singing to yourself

I tried that antenna and got zero reception. Then I tried the longer one, 14" I think. I now have mediocre reception. But I hated the stock antenna so I'm good with that.

I've actually considered taking the antenna off, and covering the hole with another badge. I don't listen to the radio (phone, itunes, sat radio), so I wouldn't miss it at all.

I grabbed the 13" and noticed a significant drop in reception. I might try the 24" next. But hey, anything is better than that stock one.

I have the 5, meant to order the 13 and made a mistake. 5 does not work well at all for me. I am 20 miles west of downtown Chicago.

I've had the shorty for 6 months now, love the way it looks. As for reception issues, I live in North Dallas and the AM stations are pretty strong here. The only time I lose a little reception is when I'm stopped by an electrical box or pass it briefly, so very little loss of reception. As for FM, it's fine except for a few of the stations that are known for weak signals.

I have the 24" and love it. I get better reception than I did on stock. I had tried the 14" and it was too weak and staticky.

I don't see a 24" on AntennaX's website. Have a link?

Thanks!

CB Replacement AM FM ANTENNA - 2007 thru 2014 Jeep WRANGLER Unlimited JK

AntennaX CB Replacement AM FM Antenna for Jeep Wrangler JK : Amazon.com : Automotive

I settled on this 24" AntennaX after being disappointed in the reception on the 14" AntennaX, and my OEM antenna cut off to 21".

I've found reception to be proportional to antenna length: longer better - until it's so long it gets caught in brush/branches along the road like the OEM (31") does.

the shorty antenna was literally my first mod when i got my JKU in november. i have not seen or noticed any reduced reception, and i think it looks excellent with the shorty rather then the stock antenna.

I have the 14 and the reception is much less that the stock whip. But I like the cosmetic thing as I rarely use comm'l radio anyhow. To each his own.

Who listens to terrestrial radio anymore? I've had Sirius (now SiriusXM) since 2004 and have never looked back.
