I have it on mine. For some reason a custom locksmith had trouble fitting any tumblers they had there into the actual cylinder. The dealership actually had the same issue and needed to shave the tumblers to fit inside.

Finally after they contacted chrysler to ask what was up, they ended up using the same tumblers they thought were supposed to fit in the first place and shaved them down a little to make them fit. Apparently the cylinder that came with my '11 / '12 Mopar locking gas cap was smaller than the older ones. It even had a different part number than an old one. They were able to key it to my ignition key with the correct 5 tumbler lengths and I even got a spare key out of the deal for free.

I'm confused
1) what did u do with the original key that came with your jeep? This is the one that allows u to have keyless entry. Does this extra key allow u to open gas cap and turn on jeep

2) what did the dealership have a problem fixing

1) I still have the original keys and they still work and open my gas cap - they had my key code on file by the vin. the extra key was just a regular black key (no keyless, no chip inside) so they could test the lock mechanism before they returned my cap to me.

2) they had issues trying to fit the little sleeves that go into the cylinder. these little sleeves are different sizes/lengths and correspond to the cut of your key. for some reason mopar/chrysler changed to a different model # gas cap recently and my dealer had fitment issues with these little metal fittings.

also on another side note, a local locksmith said their little metal fittings would not work with this new locking cap style. I sat there and watched them having issues with it. it was a similar issue they had trying to replace a lock cylinder on a newer dodge avenger recently.

in the end, my dealer ended up not charging me the labor to key the lock correctly because it took them a few days... maybe my dealer is just retarded, but i saw first hand the sleeves/tumblers (whatever you call them) just did not fit correctly without modifying/shaving them to fit into the cylinder.

Mopar Locking Gascap - Jeep Wrangler

Yes, I bought the Mopar locking gascap that needed to be keyed to the ignition key. After receiving the new cap, it took the Parts guy about fifteen minutes to do whatever was necessary to make it work - No charge at the Iowa City Jeep Dealer.
