ANY MECHANICS ON HERE? Crunch when engaging 3rd gear (clutch fully depressed)???

My '12 JK has a "crunch" when engaging 3rd (clutch fully depressed). It's unavoidable especially in 4 low under load. I'm taking it to dealer, but want to know what the probable cause could be...
Is this hopefully just a clutch adjustment issue???
*Please no responses unless you're a Jeep/transmission mechanic or had this problem and it was fixed by a Jeep dealer/trans. shop...

OK, I won't answer it even though I am a certified master tech retired. Not Jeep though!

if it's only in third gear, it's not the clutch.

I was hoping it wasn't going to be something major... I guess that's what warranties are for, just don't want the down time without the Jeep...!

Just my opinion, but having looked at the "brain trust" that frequents this place, you might want to consider listening to what these people have to say... It's a damn fine helpful bunch here, and they will get you headed in the right direction...

Thanks for the info RoadGlide... Just wanted to avoid the "forum experts" that give opinions or answer questions when they don't know what they're talking about.. Didn't mean to diss anyone

I am a senior master tech for a different brand; and I would think that either the synchro for that gear somehow got messed up or the shift fork somehow got bent. When did this first happen? Were you in low range? If you can give us some more info on what you were doing when it first happened. Like others have posted I would rule out the clutch as the problem since it only happens in one gear.

Synchro ring sounds worn. We haven't worked on one of these units yet but every other manual that we've taken apart with this symptom ends up being a synchro problem...possible gear damage.

It started out on the street just a slight "crick" when shifting into 3rd... When I took it out to the trails it became a "crunching" noise especially in 4 low and under load -like climbing a hill or high rpm shifts.. The shifter is unaffected it goes into gear without binding.
It seems when I deliberately push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor and hold it at the same time slowly shift it into 3rd it just clunks into gear without the crunching sound both on the street and off road in 4 wheel drive.
